Great Improvements From Older Model
Had an older version of this led headlamp (all orange) which finally died from years of use. This unit is significantly brighter and the slide on/off slide is improved over the previous model. On the older model you couldn’t be sure if your finger was in the correct spot on the unit and invariably it would take two or three swipes before you got the unit to turn on/off. On this model there now ridges on the slide panel so you can feel exactly where your finger needs to be to operate the unit and it works every time. What has always been a good waterproof led headlamp is now that much better a product based on these upgrades. I use it mostly in the winter and use Energizer lithium batteries....they work great in up to -40 degree weather.

Good dimming capability
I bought this to read to my son at bedtime as well for my husband to use on camping trips. It has exceeded expectations for both. We don't use the red light so I can't speak to that capability, but the white light is perfect on its dimmest setting for lights out reading and on the highest for walking through the campsite at night. The lamp is comfortable to wear and it's easy to adjust the angle. Not too heavy. I would recommend this headlamp.
