Speck Products FabShell Fabric-Covered Case for iPhone 5 & 5S - FreshBloom Coral Pink/Black

I really like this case. I purchased it back in 2012, and I've been using it for almost 2 years. It is slim fitting and snug against the phone, making it not add too much bulk. The fabric has a nice feel that helps you to be able to grip it more easily and comfortably than many cases. The style is very cool as well. A minor con would be that it can be a little difficult to push the sleep/wake and volume buttons since the case covers them. However, after a while, you get used to it. It comes naturally to me now and the only time I would notice is if I take it out of the case and realize it is easier to press. I haven't really noticed any issues with the sound being distorted. I'm sure the case may have a small impact, but if it is, it's hardly noticeable. I did have an issue at one point with the signal. It does seem to be stronger in bars when it's out of the case. I still have a good reception, and I think there may have been other factors than the case (like locations I was in), but it may be something to consider. The fabric is just now starting to tear at the seams (but i've used it for almost 2 years, so this is not bad. And it's not hindering use). I have also dropped this phone quite a few times, and not once has it cracked. It has raised edges on the front that help and it protects it like a bumper, absorbing the damage. My drops were minor, so I wouldn't be careless with it, this isn't a Lifeproof case, after all.Overall I think this is a great case that is slim yet protective and stylish. It adds a little bit of thickness to the phone around the edges, but it's minimal while still offering protection. The flaws are minimal and easy to get used to.

--- Update after ~6 months ---The TPU rubber that they use stretched out horribly, for me, and one little piece decided to detach from the polycarbonate frame, to the point where I think I'm going to replace the case with something else.The fabric seems to have lasted all right, though it does end up getting dirty under normal use (it probably needs to be washed periodically; I bet shampoo would do the trick). There were a few frays and times that it decided to peel up a little since I got it, but I was always able to trim the frays off and press the peeled parts back down.Reducing the rating to 2 stars. It's a great case while it lasts, but I think ~$30 is too much to pay for something that stays in good condition for less than 6 months under normal use.--- Initial Review ---Good:- Looks to be decent to good protection (haven't tested it.. :) )- The texture is awesome- Doesn't get slippery when you hold It for a long time- I think it looks really goodBad:- Likely to get dirty, I suppose (not a problem for me so far, as I tend to be very careful with electronic devices)- Feels like it absorbes the moisture from your fingers to some extent. I think I prefer this to it becoming slippery (as in a plastic/rubber case), but its still not my favorite- The screen side of boarder, above the lightening connector is a bit too bendable, since there's nothing to support it. They couldn't have made it any other way, I think, and it doesn't really bother me, but still- The lock button is noticeably harder to press. I'm fine with it, but it is a little annoying- Dust tends to accumulate on the phone around the connectors and side switch, since they're open. Unavoidable, and not bad.. And covers may have ruined the aesthetic value of he case for little functional benefit, but again, just mentioningOverall:I highly recommend this case. I think it deserves about 4.5 stars, but amazon doesn't allow half star ratings.. :). If you're going for more protection, you might want to look at the speck candyshell cases (or the lifeproof or otter box ones, if you want to go that far). If you're looking for something even thinner, but still protective, you might want to check the belkin ones out (which I'd strongly consider I'd I were purchasing again, having seen one now). For me, this case is more or less optimal though.Note on installation:I typically see, online, people putting the left side in first and then shoving the right side in. That works (it's the way I've been doing it so far). If I have to take it out and put it in again though, I'll probably put the right side in first, and shove the left side on. Judging by which parts of the boarder are more flexible, and where the bottoms are on the phone, it seems like that would be easier.

I first saw this case at an electronics store a few weeks ago. A young employee had the black plaid one on his iPhone 5, and it looked very cool. I wanted to buy it, but it looked too masculine for me, plus it was $30. So I came on Amazon and was very excited to see the purple plaid one for under half the price! I ordered it and figured I'd add it to my rotation-- I have several cases that I've bought on Amazon for a great price, and I have yet to be fully in love with any, so I keep switching them. I loved the thin sleek ones, but they kept slipping out of my pocket and would crack at the slightest fall (1-2 feet onto my tile), and then I'd buy a bulkier case and not be happy. But now it's solved! This Speck fabric case is of the coolest-looking I've seen! The black plaid is very cool for a guy, and the purple plaid is perfect for a more feminine look. It's a cross between thin and bulky-- just right! Protective and doesn't slip out of my pocket like my thin ones kept doing (and cracking), and looks so cool! If it were up to me, I'd have no case. But my husband wouldn't want me to break my phone, so this case will be more than fine. I love it so much, and it's so cheap on here, that I just bought a back-up one (NO case-- mark my words-- last forever-- or at least between all my friends and family with iPhones, this is what I've learned). If you buy this case, you will not regret it! Yes, it won't dock, but I don't dock mine-- I just keep it simple and plug into the cord that comes with the phone.

I bought this for the wife, and she adores the case. Loads of people have commented on how unique and stylish it is, basically every girl who has seen it wants one themselves now! Maybe not the most comprehensive protection available from Speck, but the trade off on style and design makes this a winner for any man wanting to keep the mrs happy! I don't know if the material (hard wearing fabric, but still fabric!) will stand up to lots of use, I dare say it will look a little grubby in a few months, but for now you can't fault it. Fits perfect like any Speck product, it's worth the money for sure.

Nice sturdy case, nice print and colours. Decent value for money considering the price of some other phone cases on the market. The fabric does get fairly dirty over time and I'm not sure what the best way to clean it is. The pink plastic/rubber parts do start to peel away as well. Personally I think a plastic/rubber case is probably best for long-term use and ease of cleaning.

Outlasted the phone, so what can I say? I had a problem with my previous Speck case peeling at the back, however this one did not have that problem.

Good quality in terms of protection for the phone but is made of material, which I hadn't quite appreciated beforehand as I'd had a speck case before which was a solid plastic shell, gets dirty in about 3 seconds and I now have a grubby grey case with trees and birds on.

Love love love love love it! It's great quality, and while it is technically a fabric material, It's durable and you can't tell or anything. I had imagined some sort of hideous fabric overlay, and it's nothing like that. It's just a normal case with a bit of friction to it as opposed to being rubbery or smooth. I honestly didn't even know it was fabric. Fits well, I've had it for a could months and have no complaints whatsoever. Recommend highly, especially for the price it's a steal!Writing on dad's account fyi lol
