Great Little Boards โ Cheap Enough to Dedicate to a Project
I've been using these while getting deeper into microcontroller projects, and I've become a big fan of these little Nano boards. They're not the newest or most powerful microcontrollers around, but that's really not the point. Sometimes I don't need Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a ton of memory or a powerful processor. I just need something inexpensive with enough I/O to read some sensors, control something, or handle a simple dedicated job. That's where these shine.I've programmed mine through the Arduino IDE and have used them for actual electronics experiments, not just a blink test. They've been reliable for me and the small size makes them easy to work into projects.I especially like buying them in a multipack. At this price I don't feel like I have to keep stealing the same development board back out of one project every time I want to build another one. I can just leave a Nano in it.If you're learning Arduino, prototyping circuits, or building projects where you don't need the additional features of something like an ESP32 or Pico W, these are extremely useful little boards.I'll almost certainly be buying more.

Use the latest Arduino IDE
First attempt at downloading was unsuccessful. I was using an older version of the Arduino IDE (1.0.5) on a Raspberry PI 4. I was powering the Nano via the USB port. The USB to serial chip was instantly recognized and provided a serial port to use. Almost all Arduino clones are using the CH340G device. I was getting a "programmer not responding error" every time I tried to upload. The webs were recommending to use Old Bootloader setting, but I did not have that as an available option. I downloaded the latest Arduino IDE forLinux 32-bit from arduino.cc and installed it. I first tried to reproduce my original error using Board: Nano, Processor: 328P, and Programmer: Arduino as ISP, but it worked the first time using the latest Arduino IDE(1.8.7?). I received my Nano boards February 14, 2020. I do not know if I have the new bootloader or the old one, but I know that I DID NOT have to select the old one under Processors. Even if you do have the old bootloader, you could always update it if it is an issue.I am very happy with my purchase. The visual quality is as good as I could ask for at any price. I think there may have been some flux residue around the programming header, but if that's all I can complain about then they must be pretty good. Each Nano was individually boxed.
