Kraken A.M.S. Case for BlackBerry Z10 Red

I love the variety of colors to choose from and the safety features.Easy to install and the manual that goes with it is understandable.I didn't like the clip that goes with it because it's loose and that's the only thing I didn't like about it.after 2 yrs+ of using this I'd say I dropped my phone a couple of times and it totally protected it.I hope they'd make this case in every smartphones out there I'd definitely buy it again! although it is quite hard to take off . The kickstand is very nice and sturdy metal material.Overall I love it so worth it!

Because I had heard so much about the breakability of the Blackberry Z10 glass, I purchased an Otterbox cover for it at the same time I purchased the phone. I was not at all happy with the Otterbox plastic cover, as the edges of the face plate interfere with typing of the letters Q, A, P, L, and the backspace key when the phone is upright. I did note that accessing these keys was a little easier when I turned the Z10 sideways and used the keyboard horizontally. In researching other cover options, I came across the Trident case on Amazon, and noted it had received very good feedback, so I ordered it in the green (great color). Upon reciept of the Trident case, I noted it was every bit as sturdy as Otterbox, and also utilizes 3 pieces: hard plastic cover for front and for back, and a rubberized "skin" to absorb shocks during possible drop situations. Note that the face plate for both models also includes a clear plastic shield. A plus for the Trident case is that there are six very nice color options. More importantly, I noted that the edges of the face plate on the Trident case do not interfere with with keyboard usage. The Trident model also comes with a sturdy "kickstand" arm that swings out from the back of the cover, which allows the user to set the device upright horizontally to watch videos or to read without having to hold the device. In case you are interested, the main difference in construction between the Otterbox and the Trident cases is that Otterbox utilizes hard plastic as the innermost layer of protection closest to the phone, with the rubber layer of protection as the outermost barrier. Trident utilizes the rubberized skin as the innermost layer of protection nearest the phone, with the hard plastic as the outside cover. So, hard to know which is better...that is just the difference. The Otterbox and Trident are about the same in bulkiness and weight: very sturdy and heavy. I have jogged with the phone in both covers (carried in a fanny pack) and noted it's quite heavy.Additional feedback (provided after initial review): I have reduced my 5-Star rating to 4 stars due to observing that the acommpanying belt clip can be awkward. Another reviewer had cited this concern, and when I got around to testing the clip, I too noted that it seems the device may not fit securely into/onto the clip and could possibly fall out. I have opted to carry my device in my purse or in a fanny pack, so I do not consider loss of use of the clip a setback, but I would view this as a deal breaker if I was plannig to wear the phone on my hip. Otterbox's clip definitely seems superior. However, as noted above, the Trident Kraken model utilizes a metal swing-out kickstand (which is a great convenience) configuration which very likely necessitated a different kind of clip. It just comes down to which feature is more important to the user. A final note: I purchased this item on May 30, 2013 for $16.85 plus tax (with Prime shipping). Eleven days later there is no sign of this screaming deal on Amazon. Looks like the kickstand model is now priced comparably with Otterbox.

Following my disappointment with the Otterbox Z10 protective case, I thought all hope was lost finding a case that would offer sufficient protection without hindering the unique functioning of my Blackberry Z10 ... until I discovered the TRIDENT KRAKEN case.WHAT IT ISThe TRIDENT KRAKEN is a 3-piece ensemble that includes:- A soft, flexible rubber "skin" (black) that surrounds the Z10's edges and covers the back. The "skin" does not hinder access to any of the Z10's buttons and ports. The sleeve alone is basically your typical phone skin that can be used by itself if minimal protection is desired.- The protective shell is actually 2 pieces (top and bottom). The top section of the shell is hard plastic frame with a thin plastic screen saver sheet molded to it (there are cut-outs on the screen saver that it won't impede with the Z10's camera or microphone). The bottom part of the shell is where the protective qualities are evident. The bottom shell is made of the same hard plastic as the top, but it has rubber molded all around the sides and "spaced" rubber corners for superior impact absorption/protection. Attached to the back is metal "kickstand" that allows the phone to be perched in a length-wise position.- To assemble: affix rubber "skin", place top shell (frame and screen-saver) over face of phone and snap into the bottom shell (the bottom shell envelops the side of the top shell). The entire ensemble is very secure and while it may take a little effort to disassemble, it's not too difficult to do.- It comes with a belt-clip attachment.THE GOOD- This case is smartly-made and very rugged with the plastic shell covering the sides and back of the phone. The "spaced" rubber at the corners is a real plus in that it can really take a hit and not only keeps the phone safe, but keeps the case from getting scuffed-up as well. I dropped my Z10 on a driveway; it bounced hard on a corner before landing face-down on the concrete (ugh!) ... no problem, this case did its job perfectly and wasn't even scuffed itself.- The rubberize sides offer a better grip when handling the phone.- The rubber sides incorporate thick plugs that snap snuggly over all ports for better protection. Although the charging port's access is ever-so slightly impeded by the rubber plug, it isn't bothersome.- The metal kickstand is lightweight and very sturdy. At first, I didn't think I'd need or appreciate the kickstand, but it does come in handy and doubles as something to play with when fidgeting.- The case's design seals the Z10 from unwanted dust and debris and while not water-proof, it offers a fair amount of splash protection.- Most importantly, every aspect of my Z10 is completely protected and the phone is totally functional (no hindering of the Z10's "bottom swipe"). The plastic screen-saver does not affect screen sensitivity.IF I HAVE TO BE PICKY- The rubber volume buttons seem a little quirky in that pushing either the up or down buttons will cause both of the phone's volume buttons to be pushed at the same time (causing the volume to go up and down). The Z10's volume buttons appear to be too sensitive for the case's clumsy rubber plugs.- Some may not like the bulkiness or rugged appearance of the case, but I think it is a worthwhile sacrifice considering the protection offered. On the plus side, the user can simply use the skin and add the shell when added protection is needed.- Although I don't use belt clips, I didn't like the way the clip snapped into the "T" slots on the side of the case ... a little cumbersome to me.- The color selection could be better (the optional colors have a toy-like appearance).Overall, I found the TRIDENT KRAKEN to be the best case for my Z10 in that if offers maximum protection without affecting the functionality of my phone.

If you are looking for superior protection for your cell phone, this is it. It provides a totally protective cover that shied your phone from dropping, moisture and just about anything that might happen to the phone. In addition to the extremely tough case, it has excellent rubber gaskets throughout. Even if you drop it in water, it is totally protected. I do not think you will find a better protective case anywhere for any price.

Purchased this to protect a new Blackberry Z10. This case is HUGE... will not fit into front pants pocket. Holster was designed by a frustrated person who's only goal was to frustrate the rest of the world! Don't waste your money... move onto the next item!
