Bacharach 3015-8004 H-10 Pro Refrigerant Leak Detectors

This is a 3 week review. This leak detector finds leaks that others (Dtek Select and JB Prowler LD5000) cannot find. The other thing is if it goes off, there is a leak. I do not have the false hits from this that seem to happen with others. Example would be a Bakery Walk-In Cooler, the dough sets off every other leak detector I’ve tried. Not the H-10Pro, if it goes off, it’s picking up refrigerant. Walking by the mop room doesn’t set it off. Cigarettes and vape pens do not set it off. Temperature difference doesn’t set it off. Refrigerant sets it off. I constantly find little tiny leaks. I can start to pickup a tiny access port cap leak barely leaking in RIFF Cases three or four doors down. I can adjust the leak detector to point me in the direction of leaks in motor rooms with a high base level that would max out any other leak detector on lowest sensitivity. The battery is a complaint, but I’m careful about charging it and the battery is only $12. The shoulder strap sucks. I wish the flap would lock in the partial open position. I have these little complaints, but I’m neglecting to subtract a star from an amazing product. Read the manual. It will explain how to use the tool and make adjustments to really increase your success at finding leaks. It has already paid for itself in found leaks.

I purchased a new Bacharach H-10 Pro refrigerant leak detector from TEquipment through Amazon. The H-10 Pro itself worked properly and successfully detected R-134a during my functional testing. However, the supplied R-11 calibration/reference vial appeared to be defective and did not produce any response from the detector. Based on my testing, the problem was limited to the calibration vial, not the leak detector. I contacted TEquipment to see if they could provide or sell a replacement calibration vial by itself. Unfortunately, they were unable to do so and the only option offered was to return the entire leak detector. Since the detector had already been tested and was functioning correctly, returning the complete unit seemed unnecessary and wasteful when only the calibration vial required replacement. Fortunately, Amazon customer service stepped in and is working out the details to reimburse me for the cost of purchasing a replacement Bacharach calibration vial from another Amazon seller, Voomi Supply, at a cost of $66.88. I appreciate Amazon’s willingness to find a practical solution. I hope that in the future TEquipment or Bacharach will make replacement calibration vials readily available, as this would avoid unnecessary returns of otherwise fully functional instruments and provide better customer support. Homemade R-134a Functional Test Unit for the Bacharach H-10 PRO Leak Detector Purpose This homemade fixture is intended as a functional test unit to verify that the Bacharach H-10 PRO refrigerant leak detector is operating properly before performing leak detection. It is not intended to serve as a calibration standard or certified reference leak. Components * 12 oz R-134a refrigerant can (California self-sealing type) * R-134a can tap valve with manual hand valve * 1/4” SAE tee fitting. Remove the metal parts of the Schrader valve but kept the sealing membranes. Repurpose the O-rings (2) from the extra brass caps to seal the interface. * Yellow Jacket low-pressure gauge connected to the tee. * 1/4” NPT female × 1/4” SAE male adapter (for the pressure gauge). Removed the metal parts of the Schrader valve. * Modified 1/4” SAE brass cap, containing: * Original Bacharach aluminum metering disc, machined to fit the brass cap * Original Bacharach permeable membrane, trimmed to fit * The original O-ring was placed at the nozzle interface to seal the assembly. * Brass cap drilled with a 3/32” (0.09375”) access hole Operation 1. Attach the modified brass cap to the outlet of the can tap. 2. Open the hand valve slightly. Slight movement of the needle indicates the gas is exiting. 3. The Yellow Jacket pressure gauge confirms that the self-sealing valve inside the R-134a can has opened and that refrigerant pressure is present at the metering assembly. 4. R-134a vapor passes through the Bacharach membrane and metering disc, producing a small, repeatable refrigerant source. 5. Verify that the H-10 PRO responds to the refrigerant. 6. Close the hand valve after the test to stop refrigerant flow. Advantages * Reusable functional test fixture. * Uses readily available R-134a refrigerant. * Positive confirmation that the self-sealing can valve has opened via the pressure gauge. * Incorporates the original Bacharach metering components to provide a more controlled refrigerant release than simply cracking open a valve. * Eliminates dependence on the original R-11 reference vial if it is defective or discharged. Limitations * This fixture is intended only for functional testing. * It does not provide a certified or calibrated refrigerant leak rate. * Detector sensitivity is verified qualitatively (detector response), not quantitatively (leak rate in oz/year). This fixture provides a practical method for confirming that the Bacharach H-10 PRO is operating correctly before searching for R-134a refrigerant leaks.

Came with bad battery

well I have a selection of leak detector inficon dtek select, tek mate and cos leak seeker 1 and 2 and bacharach informant 2 and now on the top of that list the h10 pro i mean I been hearing about this that this is the top of the line now finally I can say wow this is a beast of a beast those other leak detector are good but not very good to locate a leak.that is what I would use to locate a leak but if I can't than i will use the h10 pro I love how its designed and built and i really didn't like the shoulder strap so I have used the other type of shoulder strap that was from a different tool bag and i really like the charging option and another thing they should have included a car charher those thing.cost $20-30 and it should have been included there is one for the wall but bacharach you know we pretty much live in the service van/truck so they should have included in the box but anyhow I will be buying that and those are just few cons other than that the product itself is free of any cons i wanna write more but this is good enough anyway also the sensor life is long and included accessories are good as well.

10 months and it quit detecting leaks. Called factory and they sent a new sensor for me to plug in and that fixed it. 3 months later 1 month out of warranty unit quits detecting again this time have to send it in and now its $100 to fix it.

I am ase certified tech. I was in the market for a really good r134a detector. I came across this unit. Tho a little on the pricey side let me tell you, it works unbelievable. This detector met my expectations Well beyond. I have even contacted the company before purchasing and the technician was extremely helpful. The only thing I wish they had done differently is to use a lithium ion battery nevertheless it has not Let me down one time I have found every leak in a vehicle.

If you really want to find leaks with all refrigerant, this is the way to go and it’s good money spent

I had high hopes for this leak detector but sadly it arrived in non-working condition and the manufacturer will not honor warranty when purchased here. Now I have an $800 paper weight until I send it off at my expense and spend who-knows how much more to get a working device.
