Q: Can you put food other than mealworms in this feeder?

Yes, I put suet nuggets on it. Anything small enough to be picked through the holes would work but it might not work well with seeds so small they'd pour out.

Q: Does this keep grackles away?

I have seen grackles at my feeder as well as cowbirds. I also had a chipmunk feeding at the feeder! Never thought that would happen!

Q: Does this feeder have a pole insert on the bottom so it can easily be pole mounted rather than hung?

No it does not. Unfortunately this feeder was not a success with my Blue Birds. It’s very windy here and the meal worms blew out of the feeder. I have a bucket full of mealworms that I need to make suet out of. Good luck 👍 if you purchase it.
