Eh, just okay.
I like the size and the photos are beautiful but I hate the layout. Having the birds sectioned off by color is difficult when I’m trying to ID a warbler and all the warblers are scatter throughout the book by color. I also dislike the fact that if males and females are different colors they are in different sections of the book. Instead of wasting pages to show me a male and a female scattered throughout the book consolidate that and add more birds.

Does not fit a standard "no wrap" flag pole and clip tab didn't make one day before it broke.
This is the third POW MIA flag I have bought from Amazon in the last 7 years. I keep the flag flying outside 7X24X365. I have no problem with how long it lasts because it stays in good shape for a long time. The only reason I replace it is because it does fad and starts to not look good just before the material starts to fray. I give the durability of this flag to be 5 stars. Now here's the reason for the 3 star rating. I've been using the same flag pole since I started flying the POW MIA flags. It has a plastic tube that the flag goes on and it get slipped over the flag pole mast. Previous flag have fit fine. This flags part where you insert the tube is so narrow you cannot get the flag over it, so I just slid it directly onto the mast (it barely fit) and placed the clip. A day later the tab shredded so I had to put a hole in the flag to attach the clip. I'm afraid that the flag pole will now wear out the flag and I will have to replace it sooner.

Birding and birdlovers must have!
The Birds of New Jersey Field Guide is a great little book and a must have for identifying birds that visit your backyard or birds you might see while out sightseeing.I live in a very scenic area that is rather dense with forestry so we get a lot of different birds with the changes in seasons, many of which I have no idea what kind of bird they are, so I thought it would be a good idea to pick up a book to identify the unknown birds and to learn about our feathered friends so I know what kind of food to provide them.I have to say that I am glad I purchased this particular book because it provides full-page, color photos of the birds which makes it easy to identify birds. What I enjoy the most about this book is its easy to use format. You do not need to know the birds classification to look it up to identify it, rather, you simply turn to the color tabs to search for the bird in question. For example if you see a yellow bird and would like to know what kind of bird it is, all you need to do is search through the yellow tabbed pages to identify the bird. The book is 324 pages, with gloss cover/ binding, and it gives good basic details on the birds listed such as their classification and nesting habits. It is a pocket sized book, measuring 4" x 1" x 6". It is a bit dated, published in 2000 so I am sure there are some newer species missing (also you might want to know that the author did not include ALL birds in this book, only the most common species found in NJ) but its still worth picking up especially if you are birdlover or new to birding!

Exactly what I needed!
This book is great for a beginning bird watcher because you don't need to know much about birds to use it. All of the other books I looked at, you first need to know if the bird is a sparrow, wren, chickadee, etc. As a beginner, I have no idea - but I do know what the bird looks like and what color it is. Pictures are great and I love that it only has the birds seen in NJ, cool mini state maps tell whether you'll see the bird all year, summer, winter or during migration. All very helpful for the novice. Bought 2 more as gifts.

Wonderful , wonderful book! You won’t be disappointed. We are amiture back yard bird watchers ... but now my 11 year old & 14 yr run to the book to identity what we are seeing in back yard. It is the perfect size to keep on the windowsill where you are watching the birds. It has a picture for every bird/ male & female. It also has wonderful facts about them. Pick this book up for some real family time - witthout phones!!I went back and ordered 2 more as House gifts for my neighbors.

Great resource for birds, with color tabs
I had an older version of this book that I gave away to a friend. Then I ordered a new one. Still quite pleased how easy it is to look up a bird. I can either do it by name in the back appendix or by tab color. It is fun just to glance through the book to find out what birds fly through New Jersey. I enjoy the details written up about each bird.

Always a Pleasure
I have now brought 4 copies of this book from Amazon. com and I treasure and use almost daily my own copy, which was a housewarming gift from a friend.I moved into New Jersey in 2004, and hung up a bird feeder, which was also a gift. Birds responded aplenty but I knew only a few of them. My friend had this guide written and illustrated for the birds of her state, but she knew there was one that cover other states so she sent me the one for my area. She also knew that I didn't know a lot about birds so she sent me the guide she knew even I could use.You don't need to know anything about a bird, all you have to do is see it. This guide is devided by colors, so if the bird you're looking for is mostly gray, just open to the illustrations of mostly grey birds, find a picture of yours and start reading about it. All birds are shown in color photos and both males and females are shown. Same goes for any color bird from mostly white to mostly black and every color in between. The book is spacific to the state you're in so it's small, and can be kept quite handy by a window or door or any other observation point. It is also well constructed, mine is still in good shape after 8 years and heavy use by myself and many visitors. It, or the same book for a different region, has become my favorit house warmingpresent for relocating friend and family.

House warming gift
Purchased as a house warming gift for first time home owners. Saw a wide range of birds and didn't know much about them. They're enjoying marking which birds they've seen and are looking forward to Spring!
