Am planning to use an external ct. what ct ratio should i use? any recommendations?

hi, The CT is designed to built inside the product. you can't use external ct. As you can see in the picture, there is a hole in the meter. The CT is built around the hole inside the meter. The wire go through the hole is equal to go through the CT.

Can the KWH be reset?

yes， it can be reset. When powered off, the meter can save the value of electric energy and electric energy of cumulative time, and go on cumulating data when the meter is powered on again. When the meter is displaying electric energy, you can press down SAM CK button to reset the electric energy and electric energy of cumulative time to zero.

Can i use this to monitor voltage, amperage from a conventional residential electrical panel to a standard 3-prong outlet?: 120v 50 amp breaker 60hz?

Yes as long a it's single phase. The unit has two small screw terminals for power to the unit and voltage sampling. And a 3/8" hole through it top to bottom with an inductive ampmeter coil. You just pass your hot wire through the hole and it samples the amperage. It will easily fit a #6 wire.

What would be the connections for a US 240 V without neutral?

You still have to run a neutral to it or a ground.
