Ocean PotionScent Of Sunshine Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30, 6.8 Ounces

I saw this sunscreen recommended by Consumer Reports. When I looked it (the 2015 formulation) up on EWG's website, it only has a score of 3 which is great. I've been using zinc oxide and titanium dioxide based sunscreens for the last few years after the EWG ratings came out but I burn even though I reapply once every 1-2 hours so I wanted to try something else without having to go back to oxybenzone-based products. I've been very pleasantly surprised with this sunscreen and I think it works better than any of the MANY ZnO and TiO2-based sunscreens. I did not burn after being out for 2.5 hours on a very sunny day. It's also extremely easy to apply (definitely didn't have to rub it in like crazy like with the ZnO and TiO2-based sunscreens) but is not super viscous like say, Banana Boat or the other traditional sunscreens. I actually love the tropical smell of it but I think those sensitive to strong scents could find it overpowering. I would strongly recommend reading the EWG website's review if the 2015 formulation changes though.

Great sunscreen!I am revising a previous review.Initially I thought this sunscreen was not absorbed well into the skin but after experimenting I have discovered that the (great) hand and body lotion I use before going to bed, (Avalon Organics), does such a super job absorbing into skin that it is still going strong the next morning but does not allow the Ocean Potion sunscreen to be absorbed into the skin. That then caused the sunscreen to be very greasy for the following 1 & 1/2 - 2 hours after application. So, I now wash my skin, (with a washcloth as just soap & water doesn't do it), and after that I apply Ocean Potion and it absorbs very nicely now. That makes me happy as I love that this is a safer product and that this company is chemical conscious. It does a pretty good job of blocking the sun and it smells good as well. My daughter now also uses this product on their small children and the lotion she uses on them, (not the same as mine), does not create any absorption problems with this sunscreen.The one thing I do find slightly annoying thing is that when the bottles arrive, a long UPS sticker was applied to the back of the product that covers all pertinent information and the label is difficult to remove. So hopefully someone will notice this review and try to remedy this problem.

I chose this product because it was highly rated by Consumer Reports (ranked #7 as of July 2017) and is also cost-effective. The Walmart brand (Equate) scored higher and is even more cost-effective but it smells very strongly like sunscreen. Ocean Potion also has a strong fragrance but it's at least pleasant to smell. It's does leave my skin feeling a little greasy, but not any more than other sunscreens. I always used this brand when I was in high school, and I was having a hard time finding more. Not only does it last, but it allows me to tan without ever burning. There's nothing like it! I saw a few people post reviews saying that they weren't sure this was a new formula....it was exactly the same, in my opinion.

This brand of sunscreen has been our favorite for several years, but it's become harder to find lately.My wife was a dermatology nurse for 30 years and knows how important sunscreen is to preventing skin cancer and premature aging of the skin. This sunscreen has all the necessary active ingredients, as most of today's sunscreen products do. The reason I like this brand so much better is the "secret sauce," the creamy base that has a great effect on the desirability of the product. The base in this product is sweat and water resistant, and yet is so "un-greasy. " ( I hate greasy sunscreens, as most men do, so I avoided using them.) The Ocean Potion base goes into the skin very rapidly and leaves hardly a trace. This means you'll use it more often, and that's a huge plus.
