B.R.U.H.: Black Renditions of Universal Heroes

Its really awesome seeing the great renditions of popular anime/cartoon characters in this way. Seeing yourself or representation of your culture is great to see and important for diversity as well as giving reference to over artists that want to draw black characters. The art in this is down extraordinary well and if you get a chance check out he artist's Instagram page as he still does amazing works that he posts frequently. Shout out to Marcus Prime. Great work. I'm a fan.

I've followed this artist for awhile on Instagram and love his work! I bought it mostly for my daughter who wants to be an artist when she grows up! She loves that some of the characters are changed to women because she feels that she can do those things too ( she's obsessed with the girl ash and pickachu!!!) and loves even more that they are her skin color and mine! She even wants to wear her hair in her curls more now!! Thank you so much!! You have no idea now much this has touched my heart!!!

I do not normally write reviews, but I felt that I had to write one for this special artbook. I have been waiting all my life to see black anime characters done right. I'm a late-80's baby so I grow up watching anime since I was in the 5th grade and as an adult I can barely recall to this day any anime that had a black character that wasn't a background or sidekick character. I hope this book will inspire our young artist to become pioneers in animation to bring representation for our youth.

Pleased but Disappointed. I'm a huge fan of Markus and his work, and I have an original piece that I bought from him in person.But this book as a product falls short of what he can really produce, in my opinion. Many of the images are low res, and to me he has a much better body of work than he included in the book. Also there is a lot of blank space in the book. I would give the book 3.5 stars if I could, but I'm giving it 3 stars to get the creator/s of the book a reason to make a better book next time with his best work and higher res images in the future. All in all thank you for the book, it's still fantastic to have it, and I will be buying the next one!

I bought this as a meaningful Christmas present for my 13 year old sister. She loves anime and is at an age where she is trying to find comfort in her own skin as a Black young woman and I felt like this book would be the perfect gift for her. It's amazing and powerful. Representation is everything! I can't wait to give it to her.

I purchased this book for 2 friends and they both loved it. Mind you, they are over 30 years old. I wish such a book was available when I was growing up but it is great to support it now. The graphics are gorgeous and I can say with confidence that the range of Black women has been accurately captured and appreciated. Thank you Markus Prime!

This is an amazing art book. B.R.U.H. brings an amazingly powerful and poignant representation of black women into a new level of power specifically because of the chosen inspiration imagery. Not only is Markus's art style beautiful and unique, his hero selections and how he flips them are FUN. And incredibly moving. This is an important book. Highly recommended.

All I can say is that I can't wait to show this to ny litte sisters & my baby neice😍 Now that I have seen this book with my own eyes I now understand the power behind representation in the animation world..I'm just so excited to have been able to get my hands on it😍 & waiting for pt2
