No Nonsense Teacher's Aid
As an adjunct instructor, this McKeachie book has provided me with some very valuable tools in the classroom. I use the strategies and perspectives in my own classroom to help manage the diverse group of students from millenials to boomers. It is like an academic mentor's advice for dealing with everything from problem students to creating more active learning environments for my students. I am embracing the fact that I am still learning (Goya's quote: aun aprendo)--just like my students. I am looking at the newer edition today for more class and pedagogy insights.

Very helpful guide!
As a first time college professor, this book has provided a wealth of information that is incredibly useful. I am so glad I was recommended this book and I keep it at my desk to refer to frequently.

This book gets better with each new edition
For the 12th edition of this book, McKeachie has added more valuable chapters that will benefit experienced as well as novice college instructors. Each chapter is fairly short -- often no more than 5 or 6 pages -- and edited to eliminate "fluff." Each quickly gets to the point and offers practical suggestions for such things as how to handle problem students in the classroom, how to create good test questions, and how to handle sticky issues that come up in grading. McKeachie has kept up with technology, too, and there is a new chapter on "teaching with technology" and an awareness throughout the book that today's students often prefer electronic media to face-to-face communication. The book is loosely structured and thus chapters can be read in any order. I especially recommend the series of chapters on testing and grading, as they provide great advice even for instructors who think they've heard everything. I use this book in my course on college teaching, along with Joe Lowman's book Mastering the Art of College Teaching and Robert Boice's Advice for New Faculty Members. This trio of books will serve you well, especially if you have never been formally trained in how to organize and run a college course.

Get this one instead of the newest edition!
This is an older edition, but it's much cheaper than the new ones and has pretty much the same content.

Excellent handbook to teaching at a university
Excellent go-to book for teaching at a college or university! The authors go from A to Z in how to develop and conduct a course. It is easy to understand, condensed list of tips on best practices in higher education. All of the recommendations are evidence-based and based on teachers who know how to effectively teach.

Had some good insights
This was a required book for a course on teaching for me, and I found the material in the book to be useful. I don't know if it would be as useful for an experienced teacher, but for the inexperienced teacher it's a very good starting point. It covers a lot of ground broadly (how to get students to read, how to lecture effectively, how to get students involved in discussion) and does offer some ideas that I think I will likely incorporate into future class settings.

Great Resource Book for Faculty Development for New Educators
This is a very valuable resource for anyone engaged in adult learning environments. This book served as a valuable resource in our faculty development program for new instructors, and was even found useful by those with more experience. I highly recommend this book for new adult educators.

Great Resource
Great resource for those teaching at a college level or those thinking about teaching at a college level. I am a PhD student and this text was required for a teaching class I took. There are many things presented here that I never realized professors must to do teach a successful course. McKeachie provided ample examples and ideas to translate the ideas presented in this book into actions in the classroom. I will definitely be using this as a resource when I teach my own college-level classes.

Vintage advice still relevant
Bill McKeachie has long been revered as a teacher of teachers. In a day and age when educational writings seem to lose currency with age, his advice is timeless.

Correcto pero caro
El contenido del libro es una maravilla, plagado de ideas para mejorar tus habilidades como formador.El precio es un poco exagerado, eso sí.
