I received this order faster than the ship due date HOWEVER the paddle I received had a small flaw. Rather than send it back, and go through that process, I decided to repair it myself. Maybe no one noticed or thought much, but mine looked like something had gotten against like glue or finish in the center, so it was raised and rather rough in this line and another place of same dimension close along the same area where it was sat against something and not fully dried. It was not very noticeable, I thought the rice might be more prone to stick there though. This was one of my main reasons for purchase to not have rice stick as much to the spoon when making sushi. So I sanded the area and then put a thin layer of clear finish to try and match it. It did not take long, as I had the materials at hand to do this... but the point is a consumer should not really have to do that. This is why I gave it four stars. I do not want minor defects when I purchase things from a store or online, especially if those defects could affect the function and normal use. It is not the esthetics that was a problem or shipping, as it was exactly what I wanted and hoped for. It was nice and I like it. The shipping was faster than expected, also.

I hate giving bad reviews (hence 2 stars instead of 1) but I will not be using this paddle. There were stickers on the paddle when it arrived - one that has left a sticky residue that won't wash off, and the other was hiding an imperfection in the wood that looks like a deep scratch. There also were places on the wood that looked like there was a finish on the wood, and other places with no finish. This, unfortunately, is going in the trash.

This rice paddle appears to have a coating (probably polyurethane) all over it. When I first tried it, the bamboo would not absorb water and the rice stuck to it pretty badly (water would bead up on the surface). The surface of the paddle was also a little too rough. So I took some sandpaper and sanded the finish off and now a quick rinse will make the paddle absorb some water and the rice does not stick as badly.I’d say this is a pretty standard rice paddle. I’m not sure it’s any better or worse than any other one. But it does need a good sanding before it will work properly.

I’ll start by saying the spoon seems very sturdy and functional. I did have to work a little to get the sticker adhesive off the back of the spoon - I’m not sure if Amazon or the vendor applies them, but it doesn’t make much sense to apply it directly to the spoon. There’s a small, dark blemish in the wood. I was worried oil or something got on it, but it looks like there’s a protective coating of some sort on this; I can see a “drip” dried onto the spoon. So maybe it’s just a bamboo thing, idk.

Nicely made spoon. I love the shape of rice paddles for a large variety of cooking projects and wanted something more sturdy than the plastic ones I have. This does the job. It's a little bigger than the plastic paddles I have but I prefer that. While it is listed as dishwasher safe I will not be washing it that way. I think it would survive, but the dishwasher will shorten its lifespan and the heat could possibly warp it. I plan on purchasing a second to completely replace my plastic paddles!

I really like the rice paddle. My issue is with the sticker that was on the back of the spoon. I washed it over and over with very warm soapy water. Even used a non scratch pad and ran under hot water. The residue remains. I don’t want to use any goo gone type of product on it since it’s wood. Update: I followed the suggestion of one of the reviewers to spray the residue with cooking spray and let set for 15 minutes. Bingo! Thank you! It washed right off. I liked the smooth feel it gave and treated the whole spoon and washed with warm soapy water afterward. I love, love, love, my spoon. Many thanks to that reviewer!

These are an upgrade from any other wooden spoon you ever tried. I bought an expensive electric wok for Christmas and these are the utensils I bought to use in it. They work really well. I hand wash them to keep them from drying out. I love their thick construction and generous spoon real estate. The short handle makes them easier to store too. I also got the three piece set so I never run out of utensils to use. Such a terrific deal!

We had a white plastic serving spoon that was very discoloured. Red and yellow food stains did not wash off. Yuk. Replaced it with this bamboo spoon. Very nice quality, very pleased with it.

The rice spoon seems to be of a decent quality build. The main issue I have with the product is that they put the sticker on the spoon mouth (instead of handle) which ended up peeling off but leaving the adhesive behind. I have since washed it in the dishwasher over 5 times and scrubbed it many times but it still is sticky. I just work around it but its annoying. It should have been placed on the handle.

Really nice rice paddle. The feal of real bamboo wood compared to a plastic rice paddle is much more enjoyable and easier to get rice out of your rice cooker or pot.

Pretty solid paddle for the price. My only complaint is the label attached to the paddle. It's perforated so it comes off in 3 pieces, and the adhesive is a close cousin to crazy glue!
