Do the dimensions refer to the actual metal part?

The width is exactly 3 inches. The flat metal portion of the spatula length is approximately 7 and 3/4 inches; the distance to the wood handle is close to 9" Since the first fold is rounded and about 1/4 '', 3 x 8" is a fair description of the working metal part of the spatula. It is generally what I would consider very high quality and the blade sits flat and uses exactly all of the flat part of an 8 NG Lodge cast iron skillet; perfect for flipping omelets. We are quite satisfied with it.

Great turner, spatula. Cast iron skillet, grill :)

This is the type of kitchen/grill utensil I didn't know I needed until I got it. The quality of the blade is fantastic, has the perfect rigidity to flip anything on the cast iron skillet or on the grill, the width of the blade is just right and the lenght is also very adequate to be able to use it at the grill without burning my hand. I wish I had bought it sooner.
