Can I use this for my own waste too? Does it take the same time to compost?

I get the question, maybe. I live on the west coast, which is prone to serious earthquakes, and if there is one, we might not have running water for a while. A system like this isn’t a bad idea for your earthquake kit.

I use in receptacle but it doesn't seem to work as described
