GREAT IDEA - Didn't quite work.
Like many other folks here I ordered these to make a wireless tether for my digital SLR. Had no problem with getting the software to work over a tethered USB connection - however when I tried to swap out the cable with these, things started falling apart - the software could communicate with the camera somewhat - it could recognize the camera and trigger the shutter however it never could get the pic sent back to the commuter (this same function worked perfectly with a wired USB connection). After working with it for a while, much searching for solutions (file size and type changes...), and trying many configurations and settings I finally gave up on using it for the camera. I did test it on other USB devices and on other PCs with roughly a 60% success rate - but it did not do what I bought it to do so I returned it.I would love to see an improved product in this space - and would even pay more for it (if it worked) - but since the company has gone out of business I guess that is not going to happen - another opportunity for someone to make some money with a solid product.

Concept good, but very limited operation
I wanted to be able to operate my laptop from any place in the house but retain access to the hub to which my printers, scanner and backup memory are connected. The wireless USB kit allowed me to do that, but the range seems to be limited to about 10 or 15 feet. The hub that I use is self-powered, so it was not a limiting factor.

So close yet so far
I decided to purchase this after reading an online article where the receiver side of the pair is inserted into the case of a battery grip for a Nikon camera which provides a radio controlled USB tether, PC to camera. In no hurry to begin the project and fearful of potential failure after seeing the retail price and reading mixed reviews, I decided to opt instead for a place on the waiting list for a refurbished unit. After finally receiving one and trying it out, I was mostly disappointed as others have been. Well not all the way because it did allow me to move about the camera tripod with my netbook while untethered rather than tied with my normal USB chord, but it only was reliable as long as I remained within 6-10' and always line of sight (walls are mostly a show-stopper).I did abandon my potential project, however, not so much after discovering the low range of the device but after discovering that both the receiver and the transmitter must both be plugged into a system whenever the 2 end up losing their "pairing". So the idea of disassembling the battery grip to remove the imbedded receiver each time I needed to pair the devices again was not something I wanted to try, especially during a photo shoot. Note that I lost the pairing twice during my week long test period. For power I rubber-banded the receiver stand to a 4 x AA battery holder with a conventional 5V connector obtained from Radio Shack soldered to the end of the battery leads. I then strapped that entire receiver/battery-holder with elastic strap to the edge of my tripod and ran the 1' USB cable up to the camera. The unit was good for about 3 hours of service using NiMH 1800 MA batteries. At the end of charge, the receiver power lamp is still glowing but simply drops off the laptop transmitter software's list of available device links. This setup did work for me for a while but I finally made the decision to just go back to my 10' USB cable instead of going through the ritual of syncing signals between the 2 devices at every photo shoot. The USB chord while providing a rip chord to easily used to topple over the camera and tripod, was just too easy not to revert back too. (Try asking your subjects to hold still while you debug your two USB device's loss of signal ;-)So in short this is usable but not 100% reliable. It still is an absolutely great concept and I am not sure why a better functioning one of these units has not been released. Perhaps the transmission problems are inherent for the required frequency band or some other issue. At USB 2.0 speeds, a lot of data has to transpose this kind of air link, a lot more than most conventional radio links. I do keep the entire assembly including battery holder and rubber bands in a zip-loc in my camera bag but I find myself taking it out a lot less often these days. It's just too easy to grab the 10' cable when needed. Maybe I need more patience :-)

Works, but bad quality
I had bought two of these kits in two individual orders. The first one arrived with a broken USB hub base. The second one also arrived with a broken hub too. Both still work fine but the plastic enclosure comes apart. The L shaped dongle is very fragile and snapped with I tried to bend it the wrong way with light force applied. The thing just feels cheap, but I did get around 25ft of range and the connection was stable. Also, it was pretty easy to setup. The box also says it supports XP with service pack 3 and Vista only. The website has windows 7 driver download.

nikon d700 wirelss
Ok I bought this device to wirelessly hook up with my laptop since the d700 uses a cf1 card, the Eye-fi card would not work.So I saw this setup in a photography website and I decided to give it a go, to my surprise it worked like a charm, I have a i3 laptop andnikon camera control 2 set up, it flushed my shots over to the laptop within 2-3 seconds. as far as range not bad really consideringwhen Im out doing senior portraits Im always within 25-30 foot of my laptop, so what happens when I get out of range? nothin but thats okcause as soon as I'm within range its automatically flushing the pics to my laptop. For atleast myself this little device was a godsend.when I set up my wifes point and shoot canon with a eye fi card it took around 7-10 seconds, so this little gizmo is a heck of a lot faster.

Only supports certain types of USB devices..
Junk product, took half an hour trying to find the drivers online (the company is out of business now so their website no longer exists). I bought this product for my piano, so I wouldn't have to run a USB cord across my living room to the computer. Turns out this only supports certain USB devices. When I got the box in the mail, I noticed it says on the front "Note: The adapter set does not support devices requiring isochronous support, such as webcams, speakers or microphones." Well apparently that includes MIDI USB devices, including my keyboard. I couldn't get it to work at all with my piano- there is a "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" error on my CASIO USB-MIDI device in Windows 7 Device Manager. I tested an optical mouse with the adapter and it DID work. So apparently, it doesn't like my piano. I'll be returning this crap product for a refund. I was cognizant of the bad reviews on this product, but I figured it was worth a try and unfortunately, I can't seem to find any similar such product anywhere.
