dsi xl grips
I have many grips purchased in the past. 2 for my psp because sadly I was stupid and broke the pink ones :( and a pink one for my gameboy advance sp which sadly broke again :( I repurchase the same kit though for my gameboy advance sp. I love the hand grips. I made it all the way through kingdom hearts on my psp. They help make the console so much comfortable. Also when I am gaming I seldom get cramps in my hands from playing. The grips helped prevent that a lot. I could play for hours with the grips and my gaming improved :) I was a little disappointed in these though. The grips are hard to grab. Like their really tiny. I found a bigger pair in eBay somewhere once apon a time. if I see them again I will grab them their to replace these. They are supportive. You have to push the dsi xl down into it and then theirs two circle things at the top that pop in the 2 circle things on the dsi xl. I love the game slots in the back too because this way I can keep 3 games on me at all times :) I have waited since black Friday to receive these. I ordered them black friday for $6.99 so if you want to try these out I suggest you wait until they go on sale because they aren't the best. Also... I wish they would make a pair big enough so that my case fits on the xl while they are in the grips. I bought a pink case to make my dsi xl pink when it is out of it's travel case, and they don't fit in the grips... kinda obvious since it even says it is just for the dsi xl. Anyways... wait until it goes on sale :) 9.99 isn't bad I guess, but I'm glad I only wasted $7.update: I used these on the game smasher games and their unbelievable! best $7. I ever wasted :) well now technically it is no longer wasted but money well spent :)However, the only complaint I have is I struggle to get the stylus out. I will keep an extra on me from now on though...

This grip damaged my DSi XL
My (formerly) mint condition burgundy DSi XL was damaged the very first time I used this thing. I have a similar grip for my 3DS and I was thinking that it would latch onto the body of the XL in the same way, with the little tabs being above the surface of the bottom face of the unit. They are slightly below the edge, resulting in a very tight fit. In fact it was so tight that it was somewhat difficult to remove once I attached it to the DS.I removed the grip after being attached to my XL for less than 30 seconds. To my dismay, I could see the damage caused by this thing. The tight fit resulted in small grooves/scratches on either side of the XL's bottom half. Also the paint was scraped off and it now looks like a thin line of dark grey or black plastic about 1/2 inch long. It just fits too tight and it digs into the plastic of the DSi XL resulting in these little grooves.Think of it like how a car looks when it's been keyed. That's what this grip did to my XL.If you want to keep your DSi XL unblemished and in mint condition, then do NOT let this thing anywhere near it.I'm sending it back for a refund. IMHO, it's a piece of junk.

Grips failed my expectations
I have grips on my PSP (Nyko with battery) and DS Lite Stereo Grips (Dream Gear). I was overall satisfied with those previous grips. I pre-ordered these grips and have been disappointed. They do feel a little better than holding the DSi XL by itself, but not much. They do hold the DS securely enough. They don't balance the DSi XL well in your hands. When the DS is open, if feels like the weight is pulling down slightly from the top. I would have liked for the handles to extend a bit lower as well for comfort. The two slots for holding DS games are not good. They are too loose and I have had DS cartridges slide out of them. I no longer use those slots because I fear I won't notice that a game has come loose and it will be lost.My final complaint is my biggest one. I almost always use headphones when I play my DS. For some strange reason, these grips were designed in a way that covers up the headphone jack on the DSi XL. It makes using headphones impossible. I had to use some tools to cut a good chunk of plastic away and file it down to make it usable. You can get the stylus, volume controls, and SD slot without a problem, which is nice, but covering up the headphone jack is a huge no-no in my opinion.I would not recommend these grips for the reasons above. Hopefully they will come out with an improved version in the future.

Don't buy for the stand
The DSi XL Hand Grip is made of a smooth plastic... not sure what I think about that. I like the shape and placement of the grip handle though. I like the extra cartridge storage (space for 2 extra). And the stand was great..... while it lasted. The stand was a big reason for buying this, and it was just not even close to being durable. If you buy this for a child, the stand will likely be broken in minutes or hours. As an adult, mine lasted just until some kids got their hands on it. Darn. What I really wanted was more of a skin with a grip, but I was too late and none were to be found anywhere. This will not protect your DSi XL, but it made some of my gaming better. I quit accidentally pushing buttons so often (due to the previous lack of space for resting finger placement).
