Cath Cake Heaven!
Oh I am a huuuuge Cath Kidston fan, I would go as far as to say that I am pretty obsessed actually. I am not a baker at all but after looking at some of the recipes from this book online I knew I had to buy this and try it. Some of the ingredients I'll admit aren't things that you would have laying around in your cupboard at home but a quick trip to the supermarket and I was ready to start baking. As I said, I am as amateur as they come so I wasn't expecting great things or that any of the recipes I followed would turn out to be remotely like the pictures but do you know what? I surprised myself! I made some party ring biscuits and the earl grey cake. The recipes are clear and easy to follow and they must have been to say that I produced something edible! I look forward to getting my apron on once again and making some more treats!

Surprisingly good with a lot of content
There is a lot of recipes in this book, and all have photos. There are 127 pages of recipes and photos. The basic favourites are covered, but there are also a lot of surprising things, like a Pear and Salted Caramel cake and Lady Grey Welsh bara brith. The sections are not too specific- Afternoon Tea, Picnic teas, School fetes and bake sales, and celebration cakes- but each section is packed, and I don't get the sense of 'padding' recipes or repeats of anything. A compact size, and beautifully photographed, as you would expect from Cath Kidston.

Beautiful, Elegant and Fun!
I don't think there is one recipe that doesn't sound good! Which, really is the most important part of a cookbook. I just got the book, and haven't had time to make something, but how could I decide what to try first! When I do make something, I will try to return and update my review. The pictures are rustic and beautiful, and, most importantly, each recipe has a picture to go along with it. This isn't a necessity to me, but it is a plus because I love to look at the pictures. The one criticism I have is that the pages aren't glossy, so they will show every butter/egg/oil stain. To give an idea of the recipes that are included in this book, here are a few of the ones that I think sound the best:Almond and Elderflower cake with gooseberry creamButtermilk scones with sour cherries and Raspberry and rose water jamBlackberry and apple crumble cakeVanilla plum upside-down cakeCaramelised onion, thyme, and feta tartsChocolate, Earl Grey, and lavender cakeEton mess layer cake (pictured on the cover)Lemon and Rosemary cakePear and salted caramel cakeSpiced fig and cinnamon cakeAnd this isn't even half of the recipes that sound good! This is exactly what I expect from Cath Kidston: a beautiful, elegant and fun cookbook!
