Nice while it worked
9/26/14Ordered this 4/6/14. Very nice picture, great up conversion & perfect size for the living room. Loved how nice youtube videos looked on it. First week of September 2014 this started shutting down & flashing the dreaded 2-5 code. I called tech support who told me to do a factory reset and it would either fix it or create a fatal flaw. You guessed it, they gave me the number of a local authorized repair shop. The tech came out & told me the 2-5 code meant cracked screen or shorted display. He was able to prove the display was shorted by disconnecting half of the matrix and power it up normally. He sent photos and established a case report with Sharp. Sharp said I would hear from a case manager in a day or two, that was Monday. Now on Friday I'm getting that sinking feeling as I stare at the gaping hole in the entertainment center & $100 cable bill I can't use.I'll update when I get some resolution.Update: 9/28/14Called & talked with a case manager. He offered a refurbished unit. Someone else's lemon has to be better than mine. They said 7-10 days after one becomes available. So I'm on a waiting list... and another sick day home waiting on a delivery guy.Update: 10/10/14Called again & asked what other options I have to resolve this. I was told there may be nothing else that can be done except wait for a refurbished unit. I will hear from some manager in two business days if other options are available.Update: 10/20/14You guessed it, never heard from Sharp so called again, still on a waiting list, no end in sight. Two weeks ago I had contacted Amazon about this situation. I e-mailed again this morning, by noon they called and generously offered to refund or replace this unit. That's way above & beyond their one month replacement guarantee. Five stars for you, Amazon, you guys rock!!! And shame on Sharp for their indifference and making others clean up the mess they make.

Don't buy this TV if you are looking for 4K
Don't buy this TV if you are looking for 4KI bought this TV 2 years ago only to discover there was no content to be found for 4K. Fast forwarding to today, there is finally some content available out there through Netflix but the encoding required by Netflix (2.2) is not supported by this TV.As far as I could tell Sharp is unable to send an firmware update that will fix this issue.Considering the amount of money paid for this TV you would expect that Sharp will offer some sort of an exchange program or at the very least some upgrade option for additional money. Instead Sharp decided to hide behind legality that TV is working as advertise. Guess what, if it says 4K in name, a consumer should be able to watch 4K...Also, if you want to get technical, there is a difference between 4K and UHD. This TV resolution is UHD....not 4K

Overall very good
This is a cool TV but it could be better for the price resolution is good somewhat as well as the upscale but there is some motion blur. And peoples complexions are sometimes off but I like the features I like the size which is why I chose this TV hopefully somewhere downline a software update could make better.Earlier remark on people's complexion was on basic cable upscale. Watching blu-rays on this TV is pretty amazing. Can't wait to get some 4k content.

Amazing
The 70 inch size is perfect for really seeing the 4 k at its best. Now that Netflix streams in 4 k there is a lot of beautiful content to enjoy which was the original issue. Surprisingly good handling of high def cable channels also, in particular HBO. The resolution is so high that images often look 3 dimensional. Easy to set up and with the THX settings very little calibration is required. Only con is the lack of local dimming. Dark images such as title screens and space images can reveal light patches. This is not as noticeable during the movie but is there for people sensitive to this. It can be calibrated out a bit but you lose a little of the color range which is one of the best features

Absolute Garbage
Absolute garbage - fixed 3x under warranty and then replaced by sharp with a different damaged refurbished tv under warranty that has also failed twice just outside of warranty- not recommended unless you wish to reduce tv time and take long walks and than look at your expensive wall mounted frame with non working black-screen insert, apart of course from the error code flashing lights that are pretty good at Christmas time. two tv's more time being repaired than working - considered as lesson learned

Best TV ever purchased and I purchased a lot
The item was brand new! Best deal ever for a 4K screen. It is smart, it is 3D. You can't set it up alone. Way too big, way too heavy. The Upscaling on Netflix streaming of Breaking Bad was mind blowing. I am thrilled with this acquisition. It's a no brainier if you hesitate between a 4K or an 80-85 inch Full HD which would be about the same price. The size trade off you make is totally worth it. Sharp did a great job with the configuration interface. Bottom line: AWESOME!

You can't appreciate how good ultra HD is until you see it.
I was at the initial US launch of the LG 84 inch ultra HD. The price tag on that and the corresponding Sony set hasn't moved down a dollar so I was very pleased when Sharp introduced the 70 inch UHD. There is 17% more screen area than a 65 inch but it looks bigger. The price is less than 1/3 of the 84 inch set and the up-scaling is outstanding. Get the Sharp set now and the 84 inch models in a few years.

Excellent picture, as expected
Excellent picture, as expected. Good upscaling. Some quirks, like sound muting without an instruction, had to unplug and reboot the system to get it back on. Takes about ten minutes. Also remote failed after first day, can only control via the Direct TV remote. No clue how to reach seller for a new remote. Otherwise fully meets expectations. (Arrived in perfect condition)
