I " HIGHLY RECOMMEND " this mixer its great. Solid, and great for podcasters.
The Alto ZMX52 is a great little mixer:Over view the Mixer is small and compact but looks good to any Podcast or recording system. After really looking a this unit I see it as a Podcast /Webcast mixer at a great price and 100% perfect fora podcast. I highly advice using the XLR jack with phantom power, some microphones say 48V , my 48V Microphones had no problems with this mixer and medium setting it was perfect for my use. The gain was only set at 10DB I had up to 50 to use on gain so plenty of power. The mixer is designed to work with mono- or stereo inputs and has an stereo/mono Aux in and out. There is zero interference or humms and it is located 2feet from a florescent light with no problems. Its solid with a little weight to it does not feel cheap at at 49.00 its allot of mixer in compact unit. What I can do with this unit is use the XLR jack with phantom power Mic, has input from my pc music and also allow calls to come in all for my podcast why the extra inputs do not have an EQ I found they are not needed. Has a nice output level light as well.A neat addition to this is taking the aux inputs and allowing them to go to the headphones, or to mix or both. with two buttons.Pro'sGreat price, simple setup simple to operate, has a XLR jack with phantom power which works great.Small enough for a desk, but enough options for novice or hobby users.Built tough has many uses and perfect for podcast. No interference or humm reported on other brand mixer in this price range.I will say it has a nice cool factor with the way its setup all knobs are color coordinated for easy identification.Line inputs have level and l/r adjustments.Cons: I guess if there was one it has just one XLR jack with phantom power, not that you need two microphones and there are two other 1/4 jacks where one nonXLR jack mic could be used I tried and it works ok.Final notes: This is solid and built for professional use, but does not have all options the ones over $100.00 do.That said for $49.00 its great deal and has highest ratings of any mixer in its price and class. At this price even though there is only one XLR jack with phantom power, you could afford two of them.I " HIGHLY RECOMMEND " this mixer its great.

Excellent For Certain Needs
I've been djing for 20 years, I just added bingo to my business and didn't want to drag in everything. This little guy has what I need and I have a small bag and one speaker I bring in for my bingo nights. I hook it up to 1 mic and 1 speaker, although you can hook up 2 speakers to it with 1/4" plugs. As far as the mic imput, if you use an xlr you will get better sound, much louder. If you use a 1/4" you must turn the gain up a lot to get a good sound. I have both mic options but have been using the 1/4" with extra gain and it works just fine. Again, I wouldn't use this for actual dj work, but its great for my musical bingo, I am using it along with my laptop for my music. There is no eq on it, so that part is a little tricky, but my software program on my computer does have an eq and I use that when I need it.If you are looking for a small board for mc work, announcements, or for home use even for karaoke, this will work just fine. It's super lightweight and fits in a small space as its maybe 6-8" wide.Very pleased with it!

Good purchase and I'm satisfied
Solid product. Good purchase and I'm satisfied. For the price, clearly I was not expecting a studio quality device. It functions as advertised, is well built and attractive. I have it working with 3 different channel inputs and get very good sound quality (focused on voice + guitar for performance). Only criticisms are the quality of the FX prefixes and ease of use (FX for me was an added bonus and not a core feature I was interested in). I mostly just wanted a pre-amp + simple mixer. The FX settings are fine, but just don't provide the quality of tones I want (reverb, chorus aren't great). Takes a bit of noodling to figure out all the settings as there are several different signal paths. This is okay though because it's actually due to being packed full of a lot of features, just saying it takes a bit of time to acclimate to. Can't rate 5 stars just because I'm not totally blown away (if the FX was awesome maybe), but overall very happy customer, sound quality is good, and would buy it again.

Perfect for PC studio
Best cheap mixer out there. I had a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer before this one for PC studio set-up...I swithced it out for this one since the power supply on the 802 was so touchy and I couldn't take it any more. The power cord on this on makes a lot more sense. It has plenty of inputs and outputs for a PC set-up. I wish it had one more stereo 1/4 inch outputs...but I can make due with the main outs and the aux out. I really like the volume wheel as apposed to a slider...it's a bit more precise for me. Also, I really, really like the headphone volume control, so you can turn the main volume off and headphone up to hear through the headphones only...the 802 did not have this. It works perfect for me...it also has phantom power (even though I have phantom power in like 8 devices...but still)...The best part is the price!

SUPER Low gain levels and terrible hiss.
Using a sennheiser E609, the gain levels were ridiculously low. I had the input gain and volume 75% of the way up and was barely getting a signal and the hiss was ridiculous.

perfect desktop mixer for 4 devices
Very well made and excellent price. It is the perfect device for my needs: mixing microphone, computer out, MP3 player, and drum machine to powered monitor speakers. Not sure why they call it a 5-channel mixer. It physically has 5 inputs plus a stereo AUX in (total 6) but 2 of the 5 are right channel stereo inputs so you really can only mix 4 devices (3 plus AUX); unless you split a stereo input to 2 devices? The AUX input is also a bit confusing although very configurable. You can route it to MIX, phones out, or MAIN out with two confusing buttons. That lets you route just the AUX channel to headphone for play along monitoring while still having all the channels mixed. AUX out is always MAIN out; great for recording but there is no separate level control.
