theBalm Meet Matte Trimony Eye Shadow Palette

i received a sample of one of these colors (the purple) through ipsy, geez, probably at least seven years ago, perhaps eight. i only know it was that long ago because i fell so in love with that tiny sample that i immediately tried to find the full palette, and when i failed, a friend found it for me - however, our friendship ended in summer 2017, so that's how i know how freaking old it is. i wouldn't be surprised if she sent it to me in 2016. it was a rough year for me and she was very kind throughout that period of time, so it would make sense that was the year she found it and purchased it for me.anyway, it quickly became the only palette i used, with maybe only two colors i didn't often wear. i love the matte finish, i love the colors, and i love that i can apply it at 7a and it still looks good ten hours later.so i've eked that palette along all this time - not using it much at all during covid, for probably obvious reasons - but now that i'm leaving the house again, i've been reluctant to go back to it because i know it cannot possibly be good for my eyes. i've tried so many other colors and brands in the interim - most of which are massive disappointments - while looking longingly at that old dusty matt trimony.finally, the other day when cleaning out my makeup, i made the decision to FINALLY throw it out, but thought 'what the hell' and did a google, figuring this palette was LONG gone. but no! ordered it immediately and finally tossed the one from the last decade. you better believe i've been using it daily since, even though i can't really get away with these colors anymore. :)so anyway, yay!

I bought this after trying the red shade from an Ipsy bag.. and so GLAD I did! These shadows are highly pigmented, and blend amazingly Well! Beautiful shades... I use them all. I will definitely purchase this again!

I looooove this eyeshadow. Package came in perfect condition, really quickly after ordering. It's my favorite matte eyeshadow, and I recommend it to everyone.

OMG! I'm new to mattes and did a lot of searching before deciding on this pallette. Best decision ever. The colors are creamy and rich. So easy to blend and cater to my sensitive eyes. This is a must have!

Product was way too sheer. Not even buildable. I can not believe this was that expensive. This was like the Dollar Store eyeshadow. Very disappointing.

I bought this from Khol's, not the online seller. I was super excited to try it, I had heard good things about the brand and the packaging was so cute (it has my husband's name on it & I was stoked). Not to mention, I adore matte shades. I was so excited to find one like my favorite Too Faced shade. Sadly, they didn't blend worth a darn. The general application was good, highly pigmented, just not bendable. Like, at all. I swatched it in store first, on naked skin with a sponge brush, and figured it was a circumstantial thing. I tried it again after I brought it home. I used Urban Decay primer and my favorite brushes, and still couldn't get it to blend. I took it back. Probably would not buy again.

The colors in this palette are beautiful. My only concern is that the colors are very powdery and don't seem as highly pigmented to me as other reviewers have stated. It took several coats and blending to get the color I wanted, and it still wasn't very noticeable. I'm going to try them with a better primer to see if that makes a difference.
