Fitting for Fitting Replacement for Marshall 290-1
This 2-stage propane regulator presented zero problems mounting in place on our 15-yr-old propane system. We have a Winnebago (Itasca) Navion from 2007 model yr (purchased 2006) and the upper pressure regulator failed and was leaking propane past the vent. You could hear the leak and it was pretty easy to isolate. The horizontally-mounted regulators on these motorhomes were Marshall model 290-1s. Those are no longer made new and are only available as used or as NOS. Not wanting to go with an ancient regulator we opted for this economical follow-on. Amazon shipped it quickly and I just installed it this morning. No problems noted. I used gas rated teflon tape on both the 1/4" FIP inlet and the 3/8" FIP outlet. Checked for leaks and there were none. Since this item went in without a hitch and works perfectly I am going to give it a high rating, but the real test of a regulator is does it continue to work for years after install and that is a question I can't really answer. But if it fails prematurely I will definitely come back and rerate. If you are ordering this to replace a horizontally mounted 290 you have come to the right place, and you will save quite a bit of money compared to the Camco brand regulators being sold as replacements for the old Marshalls.

Not same product as sold!
Like a similar review posted earlier, I did notice that the part was stamped with two different model numbers. I have not yet installed as I plan to run this with my DuroMax Hybrid 12000EH Dual fuel generator on a 100 lb tank. Looking through the parts sheet it shows that both the numbers stamped on this regulator have the same capacity & BTU/HR. Just a hassle to have to go through all of this, when you expect to receive the item it describes as sold but then receive a “similar” one. If you plan on getting a MERG 298 expect to get a MERG 291.

Fit perfectly on my 2005 E450 Super Duty Chassis - Winnebago Minnie 27'.
When I found that my current regulator was leaking, I immediately began searching for a direct replacement - only to find they were no longer made by the same manufacturer. After a little research, I discovered Marshall made a direct replacement - so I called Marshall (who, btw were very good at calling back and helping) and they directed me toward this one.It fit fine - but one thing to note - I had to first loosen the fitting onto the propane tank, as this would not spin off freely without colliding with the tank... the way it is mounted on my motorhome required loosening the tank fitting. All I needed was that giant 18 crescent wrench that sits quietly in my toolbox most of the time ;-), and voila. It is nice to know I can justify that giant crescent wrench once in a while, it made the job a breeze... otherwise getting that fitting loose safely without a lot of leverage would have been tough.Mine has been installed for a few months now with no issue. Thanks for reading.

Three times a charm
First, I ordered the wrong model and didn't realize it until after the return policy ran. That's on me. Second, they sent the wrong model, so I returned it (MEGR291). Third time they got it right with the MEGR298. Well made and much better than the crap one made by Fairfield they used on my Class C that are well known to fail, so I replaced it with the Marshall MEGR298 that is much better built. Highly recommended.

Regulate yourself
Regulator arrived as advertised. Used to replace the OEM regulator on my 2016 Coleman Bunkhouse travel trailer after it failed for no apparent reason. Although, mounting holes on regulator matched the original bracket, there were no threads in the holes. This does not appear to be a problem. If you apply steady pressure while screwing the bracket screws in the holes they seem to make their own threads. OEM regulator cover that came with the trailer did not match the shape of this regulator exactly but can sort of be forced into submission. input and output labeled and it did not appear to require adjustment. After the installation/mounting and connection of the gas lines (and bleeding the air) turned all the gas equipment on in the trailer and everything appeared to work perfectly. If it doesn't fail after a couple years will change the rating to "love".

Hope it works
Arrived with no instructions (not that they're needed), no invoice, no receipt, no product information sheet, no user manual, no safety data, no return policy, no spec sheet, no warranty information, no bubble wrap, not even shipping box. Just a heavy metal item in a plastic envelope.

Solved my problems with RV heater only working intermittently.
RV heater sometimes would not turn on. Turns out the pressure regulator was not working well. Replacing it solved the problem and also improved the performance of our gas stove, which I did not realize was not burning at full capacity.
