Samsung F40 Ultra Zoom Camcorder (Black) (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

This camera is the best I could find for the price. I purchased this to replace an old Canon DV camera. The camera stopped excepting tapes. The image quality on the Samsung F40 is much better both on the camera display and the actual video. The old tapes I was using needed to be captured in order to transfer and edit the video this would take 1 hour per tape. I can just copy the video from the flash card and start editing right away. This camera is so small I can stick it in my jacket pocket and not even notice it there.The camera weighs next to nothing and fits in the palm of my hand. and since it was so cheap, I let my 4 year old daughter use it. The creativity of a young mind captured on video is priceless.Once I decide to make the jump to HD, I will give this to my daughter so she can have fun with it.If you are not looking for HD and don't want to spend much money, this is the best way to capture life for eternity.

This camcorder has excellent video and audio quality. The Smart Record feature is a God-send for amateur videographers! There are 2 drawbacks: 1) the videos take up a lot of disc space and 2) video playback drains my laptop's memory, which causes audio "hiccups". Fortunately, when you upload a video to YouTube, the audio "hiccups" are not there. Just make sure to delete videos that you don't want to use and use a disc defragger (e.g., Auslogics) to unfragment your computer files after video editing. Great camcorder for the price. I'm sticking with this one!

I bought this camcorder back in 2010 and it has been the most amazing small sized camcorder for what I need it to do. It was worth spending the money on it. The only downside is trying to film something with little lighting. It doesn't have a very clear image when there's hardly any light and the button to make it lighter makes the image a bit fuzzy. All in all the camcorder does what it needs to do and the microphone to it is very powerful. Just watch out recording during windy days. Have a covering for the mic on it to minimize the noise of the wind.~Anna~

I saw this camera here and i decided to buy it based on the reviews given. I made a bit of a mistake. I have had this camcorder for about a year now and I can say it doesnt live up to my expectations. On the package you get the f40 in, it says the battery life lasts up to 4 hours. this is not at all accurate. the first week i got this and fully charged it, I realized that it wasnt doing the 4 hours. I did a time lapse recording thinking it would record at least 2 hours on my 10 gb SDHC card. After about an hour and a half, it said it was on low battery so i decided to turn it off. i havnt used it for more than a hour on a charge ever since. It does ok in low light conditions but there is much to be desired. The mic is decent and usable but it could be a lot better. the LCD screen gets wobbly after about a month of use but that doesnt affect the performance. the zoom is quite nice but it has a hard time focusing when zoomed in.Pros:good time lapse featureeasy upload to your computer (facebook, twitter, youtube)decent lensecomfortable hand strapOK video quality (420p resolution)Cons:grainy video in low light conditionslow battery lifewobbly LCD screendoes not allow you to attach a micdespite the 3 stars i gave this camcorder, it is a good deal for the money. It has been the worst buy that I have realized in Amazon.The camera had a flaw in the CCD with a spot in a corner, it was going to return it but I had to travel and could not do it.After approximately 10 times used the button of the zoom it started being activated only what it makes useless to try to record something since it is not possible to make the image fixed.Have I sent it to the service of Samsung but they say that the camera only has three months of guarantee in labours and I must pay 55 dls so that they repair it, that type of guarantee is this?The quality of image is bad, and in the scenes with rapid changes lines of the interlaced are observed, I believe that a video VHS turns out to be better.I bought it for the zoom, but I believe that he should pay very much for a camera that serves only weeks.Ha sido la peor compra que he realizado en Amazon.La camara tenia una falla en el CCD con una mancha en una esquina, iba a regresarla pero tuve que viajar y no pude hacerlo.Luego de usarla unas 10 veces el boton del zoom empezo a activarse solo lo que hace inutil intentar grabar algo pues no es posible dejar fija la imagen.La he enviado al servicio de Samsung pero dicen que la camara solo tiene tres meses de garantia en mano de obra y debo pagar 55 dls para que la reparen,que tipo de garentia es esa?La calidad de imagen es mala, y en las escenas con cambios rapidos se observan lineas del interlazado, creo se ve mejor un video VHS.La compre por el zomm, pero creo que pague mucho por una camara que no sirve mas que una semanas.

this camera has all the qualities you'd be looking for if your a novice,but if you want any depth to what your buying,i don't recommend this.the camera is piss poor in low light, so pour id say its unusable.the mic works good in loud environments, but if there's any quiet, the mic then gives off to much static noise to be any good. the quality of the image is mediocre at best, with a low resolution and the zoom if far to shaky thanks to a lack of image stabilization, but if you have a tri pod then the zoom is great, one more thing: when you press the record button the camera takes about 5 seconds to realize you pressed it, so if you find things like that annoying or you want any speed to your production, don't buy this. its super slow, the pictures are horrid as welli don't recommend this camera to anyone but a novice.if your a filmmaker looking for a decent camcorder then i recommend getting a zi8, much cheaper and much better in video and mic, plus its HD, and has some depth thanks to accessories,but if your someone wanting to record a family event, then i still don't think you should get something like this.Its simply not well put together.
