This book is very useful when you already knew R and SAS
This book is very useful when you already knew R and SAS.I generally use R, but sometimes use SAS. When you want to know a function to do some tasks, this book is kind of a cookbook. So just look at the subject index and jump to that topic. It is very helpful for me. MANY statistical techniques, data management are covered in this book.

Great for its intended purpose
I think this is an excellent book for its intended purpose. While I agree with critical reviewers that this isn't an appropriate sole book for learning SAS or R from scratch, especially if you don't know either langauge, it is an incredibly helpful book if you are fairly fluent in one of the two languages but tend to stumble around in the other. As I was coming from SAS and starting to learn R, I referred to this book quite often as a secondary reference, and it remains on the bookshelf nearest my desk. I am currently buying a copy for my Statistical Research Assistant.

Translate R to SAS for experienced users
If you never used SAS , get an R only book to learn R. This books assums some familiarity with SAS. If you are a working SAS user who wants to switch to R this may be the good for you. If you are a working R user to don't bother with SAS translations.

Don't bother to learn SAS using this book
I don't understand why these authors write this book. Clearly it is not for learning R or SAS. I'm an R user and I thought this book will help me to learn SAS easier compared to a standalone SAS book. I was wrong. There is very little or poor explanation of the basics. For example at the first page they give an example:data ds;infile C:\file_location\filename.ext;input varname1 ... varnamek;run;First, I don't know where to write it in SAS. They assume in the book you already very proficient with SAS editor. Then they did not explain what "data" means or what "infile" or "input" means etc.. Is "ds" a variable name or a reserved word like "input", no clue..If you want to learn SAS from R as me, don't bother to buy this book.

no kindle support for kindle version!
Update: I discovered I can read this book in the kindle reader application on my PC, still not on my kindle but it's a progress...Hello, I found this book useful for cross-referencing, so I bought a kindle version for an easy access. Imagine my surprise when a £40+ kindle version refused to open on my Amazon kindle! Massive disappointment. I don't know how they expected me to read this e-book..., and it was clearly marked on the website as a Kindle version... Please fix it and I'll buy it again, but it needs to work on my kindle reader...
