Solved our issues!
After research and reviews I settled on this. We are loving it! The purpose was to use it for the TV like when my husband wants to watch football and I can't stand hearing the commentary or my daughter watching her cartoons...We can stay in the living room on the computer and not have to hear it. The best is for someone who wants to stay up late and watch tv and not bother the others going to sleep. Sometimes you watch a movie and just can't hear it and turning up the tv just makes it vibrate. You can walk around the house, go to the bathroom, even step outside and still hear it. I am making my parents buy this too!I'm going to include a review from some one else that was helpful:Here are the items it comes with and what you will need to purchase in addition to make them work. The set comes with:1. 2 over the ear headphones that swivel to lay flat2. 2 quality zippered storage cases3. 1 transmitter.4. A paper with minimal instructions but nothing that tells you how to set up or what else you will need. These are the additional items you will need to make the headphones work.1. Four AAA batteries2. One 12 volt DC power supply3. At least one set of dual RCA male to male extension connectors, the kind with the white and red plugs. (There are 2 sets of ports so you can hook up 2 electronic devices to the transmitter or just switch the cords to the different devices as needed.)These items can be purchased at any electronics supply store such as Radio Shack. We are using these headphones for our TV so I plugged the red and white connectors into the back of our cable box. (Plug into the extra ports that are sitting directly below the connectors going from the cable box to the VCR.) Plug red plug into red port and white plug into the white port. I plugged the other end of the connectors into the transmitter. Red plug into red port and white plug into white port.Plug in the 12 volt DC supply into the transmitter port located in the front of the transmitter and then insert the plug end into the wall outlet or power strip. Do not leave the transmitter on a hot, cold or wet surface as it may damage the unit.Insert 2 AAA batteries into the headphone earphone that has the compartment for the batteries. Remove the cover then place batteries inside. The on/off switch is on the opposite earphone. Switch it on till the red light turns green and you are good to go. Just turn on the TV and mute the sound. Place the headphones on and adjust the volume with the volume switch that is below the on/off switch. When you are done using the headphones, switch off the headphones, swivel ends to lay flat and replace them into the storage case for safe keeping.Don't forget to unplug the transmitter. It doesn't have an on/off switch and will continue to use power/electricity even if the TV is turned off. (You can turn off the TV and still hear the programs coming through the headphones if you haven't turned them off yet.)We found the quality of the sound to be excellent and clear. The over the ear design blocks outside noises and the fit is very comfortable. You can't hear the sound coming from the headphones once they are put on so other people in the room will not be disturbed. This high quality product is an inexpensive and excellent investment for anyone looking for wireless headphones that deliver clear, crisp sound while blocking outside noise or for people who have hearing difficulties

Poor Quality, Poor Warranty, Poor comfort, Good Range.Add on about AppleTV
This is a mixed bag. The range of these is great - wonderful. The comfort of the headset is really not good, no matter how they are adjusted they press on the temples to the point that it hurts, also after watching a movie or two hours of use my ear hurts really bad. The sound quality is OK but not near as good as another headset that I have but the range of these are much better but the comfort is 100% better on the other unit. Now 4-5 months into using these the ear pad has broken away from the head band and they wont stay on. Word of warning: They only have a 30 day warranty. So what was a fully acceptable unit is now Junk. Expensive for a 4 month life span. No they were not abused, they were not dropped, the ear pads do not even show wear. I am older with a hearing loss, so I use them so that my wife and I can watch a TV show, she can adjust the volume how she wants it (which I cannot hear) then I use the headset to make the volume level acceptable to me. For that they worked fine until they broke. Two things: Very Poor Warranty, Very Poor Quality.Tried to answer a question and it would not post: so here it is; I do not have an Apple TV, however I have used these for several years and the range on them is wonderful. They are made very cheaply and both pair have broken where the head band goes into the earmuff. I have used "shoeglue" and tape to put them back together, as of the 4 different headsets I own they have the best range, I can wear them into the yard to walk the dog. If your Apple TV has RCA jacks on the back it will work, if you have a head set jack (micro or mini plug) you can make them work, if you have a dig.audio jack you need to go to something else. Good sound, great range, lightweight, cheap construction. I am hard of hearing so I MUST use earphones or the entire neighborhood will hear my TV, that's why I have several brands of head sets and several TVs. The $200..+ pair I have are the best sound, med range and not as comfortable for all day wear as these are. Hope this helps.

Cheap feeling and uncomfortable (and were possibly DOA)
I settled on these after reading the Wirecutter review [...] with an open mind and the full expectation that they wouldn't be fantastic but that they would do the job I needed them for (to be able to watch TV while my spouse was working in the same room, or vice versa). I didn't mind that the quality wouldn't be amazing or that they aren't luxury headphones. The first problem was that I could not get them to work after 30 minutes of fiddling around. I purchased the power supply and male to male connectors (as you must do, given that they don't come with), all the lights were turning on in the right places, but ultimately could not get them to emit any sound whatsoever. I read and re-read the instructions, the reviews for the product here and the wirecutter review and couldn't get them to work. However, I would have been willing to do further investigating to get them to work had they not felt so cheap and uncomfortable. The case they come in is nice, but picking them up they felt very light, plasticky and cheap. It was difficult to get a good fit even after adjusting them, and I couldn't get them to lay flat on my ears - they were partially off no matter what I did. The headband was very uncomfortable too. These are not something I would want to sit and watch TV in for any period of time.I suppose you get what you pay for, but these were still over $70 and I expected more, even with my already low expectations from the Wirecutter review. I decided to return them and buy a 15 foot headphone jack extension, so I can use my own comfortable headphones, albeit with less mobility.

Sound Feedback
Horrible set, cant even listen without feedback in the back which is distorted. Very upset and totally not worth the money. Changed from analogue to digital but the sound is totally not clean.

It eventually worked quite well, but initially, there ...
It eventually worked quite well, but initially, there was a lot of noise and I had to reposition the unit several times before this noise disappeared. The other very irritating feature is that the unit comes without a power supply, which has to be ordered separately.it was only by luck that I noticed this deficiency before ordering the item. There is a pair of output leads labelled 0 to 10 V. It is not clear whether these are an output or a way of connecting a 0 to 10 V power supply. The information that came with the unit was inadequate.Oon the plus side, the unit is very much cheaper than comparable units even with the additional cost of a power supply.

They work, but I had to buy a power supply
I like that we get two sets of headphones, so my wife and I can listen without others in the house hearing.I don't like that the product came without a power cord. I had to find one that would work without a lot of information to work with.

Doesn’t work
It was good the first time I used it. After that, within 5 minutes of usage it starts to make a noise(more like static noise). I changed the batteries but it didn’t resolve the issue. Both works the same.
