The best of the best ... COMPARISON of this and tilt head aritisan mixer.
You'll see I have done 2 reviews of Kitchenaid mixers. I've done this one which I bought via Amazon warehouse for a discounted price. The other one is the Artisan tilt head mixer (that has pictures).I had to send this back as despite the discount the actual unit turned up marked and scratched and not "as new" but I did have the opportunity of baking with it a couple of times. First off this is a BIG mixer. Check the dimension. Once you have it going make sure the mixer bowl is clipped into the back of the mixer properly or it'll rattle around. The biggest difference between the mixers is when I was making break dough (750g) this mixer just got on with it and there was no hesitation and it was so good I didn't even consider the work it was doing. However I made the same recipe with the tilt head artisan model (300w as opposed to this 500w) and the difference then became noticeable. The Artisan mixer motor sounded like it was trying very hard and there was a significantly less smooth action. The whole thing about the Heavy duty 6.9l model stands out. The mixing tools on the Artisan model look almost child like. The tools on this model like the flat beater, whisk and J-Hook for Dough look the part. They feel heavy and robust. Everything about this mixer is better. However given it's nearly twice the price when you compare NEW versions of both is it worth it? Well I have to tell you I am seriously contemplating sending the Artisan back and biting the bullet for the extra cost. This thing could mix a buffalo ... on a serious note though... the artisan model though ... I don't see that lasting several years of regular use. 5 years maybe? This thing will last till you die it feels that sturdy. It's expensive but I think it's probably worth it.

High quality time and effort saver
I've used the smaller Kitchenaid mixer for the last 18 years without issues and only wished for higher capacity. I had the opportunity to get this and it really is a high quality piece of kitchen equipment. I did miss being able to lift out the beater by lifting the head unit up but this is a small change to get used to compared to the increased capacity and power upgrade. I think this one is quieter than my originalI use it mainly for baking with some bread making and mash (creamed) potatoes and it excels at all. I've also purchased the Kitchenaid 6.9 Litre 5KFE7T Flexi Whisk Tool to clean the sides whilst mixing.I really dislike "kitchen cupboard fillers" that allegedly make my cooking easier but do nothing other than create washing up and taking up space. The Kitchenaid is one of the very few kitchen appliances I have and it's an item I use regularly as it really saves me time and effort. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Fabulous !!
I absolutely love this machine !! I had a different brand that couldn't cope with making dough and like so many others, it's what I am doing most during lock down, that and cakes ! my Neighbours are loving their sponge cakes.I can't wait to get some of the attachments, especially the Pasta maker, it is easy to use, easy to clean, all accessories are dishwasher safe, it's just a great quality machine !It has a 2yr Warranty but a Professional Chef (Richard Bertinet) who recommended this to me has used one for many years in his Bakery with no issues, if you want to learn how to make bread he is the Master !

Love this machine
I had the artisan previously. Very loud and if I wanted to make a double recipe, i found the bowl at maximum limit. I also found that mixing tough dough was straining the machine. This machine is great. Low sound and mixing things with more ease and speed. The bowl is not fiddly to use if you know how to detach and attach it from the machine properly. It hasn't been a problem for me. Highly recommend if you will use it a lot.

Fantastic machine
I’m a big kitchenaid fan. I have several appliances and find them all to be fantastic quality.I have owned a Kitchenaid Classic stand mixer for several years and it’s still going strong and in daily use however the bowl is just not big enough for me any more.I bought this Heavy Duty model on offer for a great price, I desperately needed the 6.9l bowl capacity as I have a bakery and need to make 4/5 brownie and other tray bakes at a time as well as large celebration cakes.I’ve been using this machine for a couple of weeks now and I love it. It’s big and powerful and yet much quieter than my smaller machine. It makes 2kg batches of buttercream with no issues and no sugar cloud as the bowl is so big and the supplied pouring cover is effective.I make 4 huge brownie tray with 16 eggs in the batch in one go with no issues. All the batter is mixed evenly.I cannot recommend this machine more highly, it’s a beautiful beast with the build quality and looks that you expect from kitchenaid. I love it!

the noise and fitting are a challenge
bought it for the power and brand, it is a bit noisy but the most challenging part for me is it's hard to remove and put on the mixing bowl in position, the tools couldn't really reach the bottom of the mixture. I don't recommend this to those who wish to handle the bowl easily.

The real McCoy
A whole different level of quality. The one to have if you are intending to get serious about baking. This is large for a normal kitchen, but it will cope with any domestic task without breaking sweat. Smaller models would be perfect for the average household kitchen however. This is set to be a family heirloom!
