Ina May's Guide to Childbirth: Updated With New Material

As an ICU nurse I was a little sceptical to read this based on the reviews and what people said about the anti medicine aspect. I read this with an open mind and loved it! Ina May is very respectful of the medical field, I didn’t feel she was some crazed anti medicine person like some reviewers felt, and she utilized doctors when necessary. Many of her birthing mothers were very anti medicine and that is totally okay, I still loved their stories and just skimmed over their rants about hospitals. I loved the birthing stories and how Ina May explains what to expect and how to prepare. I feel more confident and relaxed. I will still be having my baby in a hospital, but armed with some wonderful and amazing knowledge from this book I would not have gotten from my doctor.

Habe mir das Buch zur Geburtsvorbereitung gekauft, und bin absolut überzeugt, dass mir die Worte zu einer einfacheren Geburt verholfen haben. Wie Ina May über die Geburt schreibt, lässt einen an sich selbst glauben und gibt einem gleichzeitig Kraft und Motivation.

This book gave me the confidence and empowerment needed to trust in my body's ability to birth naturally. It helped me learn how to work with my body and not against it. It helped me tap into the ancient intuitive practises that women have been using for centuries to birth their babies. I gave birth in a birthing centre in the UK, and I was able to apply most of the strategies from this book successfully. My first Labour was 6.5 hours long and the only thing I used to manage pain was gas and air during transition. I felt in control during my entire labour and this book helped me to accomplish that. I tapped into my feminine powers surrendered to the process. I'm grateful for the wisdom I gained from Ina May.

Es un libro hermoso con mucha información valiosa. Lo recomiendo ampliamente para informarte, pero también tener en cuenta que tus expec de parir no sean en comparación de las experiencias que comparten en el libro. La realidad de nuestro siglo y sobretodo en ciudades, es que el parto aunque sea muy humanizado y respetado y sin violencia, es muy diferente a cómo lo platican en el libro. No necesariamente malo, simplemente diferente.

A must must must read for all pregnant ladies out there. Also a must read for everyone giving unsolicited advice to the pregnant ladies!
