will this fit a 1981 cj ?

This will not fit a 1981 CJ. It is only made for the 1997 and up TJs and JKs.

Not ideal for rainy climates I’m guessing

If installed properly (to the rear) its fine for rainy climates. This should be used to create a cowl air flow for your A/C system to help boost its effectivity.

Not really, the texture is more matte or semi-gloss. It matches the oem trim and bumpers pretty well. You could paint or top coat for more shine if thats what you want.
