Wahl Professional Animal SS Pro Pet and Dog Clipper Kit (#9777)

Honestly, I was hesitant when I made the purchase...in the past, we have tried other buzzers on our thick coated dogs with no success. But after reading reviews and double checking that the Pro Clipper was capable of dealing with thick, matted fur, I gave it a try. I have a Siberian Husky who hates being brushed...this buzzer went through her thick, matted triple-coat with ease. Granted, the buzzer did get warm after several minutes of buzzing, but all I did was turn it off and give my husky a break for awhile. For a powerful buzzer, that would be expected. That thing cut through all her thick, matted patches without a problem. I can comfortably use it without any guards and flush up against her skin to get the really matted clumps, and my husky doesn't complain. Normally when I take my husky to the groomer, her fur gets so matted and is so thick, they normally have to do pretty much a full out shaving and shave off her entire coat. With this buzzer, I could get all her clumps off and trim her how I want to...so she ends up looking WAY better than comin home from the groomers.Overall, I am VERY happy with this product. For the cost of one grooming session, this is definitely worth the price. If you have a critter with thick fur that clumps, this is a must. We are much happier being capable of grooming her thick coat at home, where we can give her breaks as needed and spot shave as needed.

I have goats, and we need to shave them for shows. I purchased the first set of clippers in June 2017, they are going strong after shaving 15 goats several times. I purchased this 2nd pair so we could shave more than one goat at a time. The two blade guards that come with are not good for what we do, but if you're keeping someone's hair, person or animal at those lengths they are good. The box is pretty sturdy, though i'd like to have the clippers held securely not just a place to set them. Everything fits in the box, the two large blade guards need to be carefully placed in the case or the case bulges a bit. I purchased smaller guards as we shave very close to the skin. They have also worked well for some friends kids with side and under cuts. GREAT clippers.

This is NOT a multi speed clipper but I found the speed to be sufficient for my dogs long hair. This is somewhere between commercial quality and home clipper quality. I would not try to run a grooming business with it, but it would serve nicely as a backup clipper. I bought about 5 extra blades for use. As it turns out I only use about 3 for my dog. Blade changing is easy. Keep this clipper lubed and clean and it will last.

If I could leave less than one star I would. I have used many Wahl clippers (my last pair lasted more than 2 years and was used on multiple pets frequently) and never thought twice about purchasing this product to shave mats off of my long haired cat. I purchased these just over a month ago and attempted to use them for the first time this morning. It took me more than 10 minutes to shave a small mat on my cat’s back. I can’t imagine trying to use them for any great length of time or on a more difficult grooming need. If they can’t handle a tiny mat now - when the blades should be at their peak- what can I expect next time? Unfortunately I missed my return window by a little more than a week, so if you do purchase these clippers, make sure you try them immediately. I’m not sure I will be purchasing another Wahl product again - as I am more impressed with a $30 pair of Andis clippers my mother purchased for her dog.

These clippers are so much better than what we were using! The metal guards worked great on our Doodles, so much better than the plastic guides on our previous set. Clippers are also much quieter.

First time ever using such dog trimmers....took meawhile before I knew what i was doing..and challenging because my dog Saddie was very matted. Finally, watched youtube vids on how to trim matted dogs...and viola...worked great !!! Excellent clippers....... I suggest getting a WAHL with same power only with an on off switch....why no on-off switch on this trimmer Mr and Mrs Wahl ????

This clipper was recommended to me by someone who used to work in the grooming department of a big box pet chain.I used it on my cocker spaniel who's coat I will admit was a little overgrown, but not unmanagable. It took many passes to get the result I wanted, and it got hot faily quickly.The most disappointing thing for me was the guide combs. They are huge and for much longer hair than my dog would ever grow.It seems very well made and the accesories and case are nice (if you can use the in cluded combs), but I will be returning it.

These clippers worked great on my miniature Schnauzer. With my old clippers it would take 3 hours to groom her. With the SS Pro Clipper I was able to groom her in one hour. I am a frugal person by nature but these clippers but the extra money spent was well worth it. The old clippers would take 4-6 passes before it would even start to trim. These clippers required only one pass to take the hair off.If I could add some constructive criticism I would suggest a couple of more guard selections for different trim lengths.
