Q: Does the x38 support amd freesync? i know v2 gsync modules support it, but it isnt stated anywhere

This X38 monitor supports Gsync only.

Q: With hulu, netflix, prime, disney, hbo max, paramount, yt, etc., do you see just side black bars, or side + top/bottom bars? what is your experience?

This comes down to how lazy the source and what aspect ratio the content is produced in. A good amount of movies will actually play on this monitor with little to no black bars on any side of it as some movies fit the aspect ratio.
