Ai HONK817 2007-2008 Honda CRV Single/Double with Pocket Dash Kit, Black

Installed in Honda CRV (2007 - 2011) with CRUX SWRHN-62B harness and Sony XAV-AX100 head unit.At the end of the day, the trim looks great, so I can't complain too much. However, the plastic is cheap and bent and the instructions are nearly useless. Here are some tips:* For a double din, you'll need to snap off some back tabs and cut off the inner rail. You'll also have a few random pieces you'll not need at all.* Stick the cover plate into the faceplate -- then add in your head unit (this will give you a sense of proper spacing for screwing in the sides.* It's not obvious how the sides snap in -- if you hold the main trim piece horizontal with the face side down, take a side and add it at an angle like _____ / then get the tabs aligned and the edges on the outside of the little posts sticking up, then snap up so its like ______| One of side pieces was horribly bowed, so it never sat flush... in the end it doesn't matter. Also they like to fall off at the faintest breeze.* The 'ISO spacer' pieces are another mystery and didn't fit well for my head unit as they were a tad too big toward the front of the unit for some reason (possibly the bowing). Also, they're nearly impossible for one-person to deal with as they fall out at an even fainter breeze. I ended up placing the head unit into the bracket, screwing down the ones closest to the front without a spacer and then sneaking in the spacers to screw in the back screws. They stuck out a bit from my head unit, but didn't matter during installation, since there is ample room for wires, etc.* During installation, 2 of the 4 bracket screw holes didn't line up, but I was able to bend the plastic in place to screw it down.Again, a complete mess to get sorted, but looks great in the car -- I would have happily paid double for something more robust (but, reading reviews of different dash kits, no one really seemed happy with any of them and this was pretty cheap).

I purchased this kit to upgrade the stereo on my CR-V. It is an excellent value and I'm overall very satisfied. The fit was good, but not totally perfect. It was a bit tight to get in but after a bit of fiddling, it was fine. The finish is a rougher texture matte black which doesn't totally match the surrounding finish of the dash but it's not a deal breaker.

Instructions could be a little bit more detailed, but it worked great for my double din install. Made in USA as well.
