I’m sure you can use ordinary virgin olive oil but this stuff is pristine pure and therefore safe

Do not use this
I wasn't aware of this until after I had problems and did some research. Olive oil in the ears does soften wax, however it can turn the wax into a sort of honey like substance which can trickle down the ear and cause a blockage. This happened to me and defeats the whole point. I had to use ear drops to remove the blockage caused by these drops. If you have blocked ears just use ear drops. Nothing else.
