Backyard Safari Field Scope

My son is hugely into bugs and critters and spends so much time looking for them and catching them and watching them. This thing never really got used because frankly you can see things better just by holding it up close to your face. It got thrown away in less then a month. If your child really wants to see things close up, get a digital microscope for your computer like the Learning Resources Zoomy. It's a little more expensive, but it's worth it because it works and it still gets used 2 years later rather then just filling the landfill.

This was a birthday present for my granddaughter who's obsessed with bugs. She uses it all the time to go collecting in her backyard on her little bug adventures. Perfect gift for a child who's interested in bugs. Fast shipping and arrived in good condition. I recommend the seller and the item strongly.

This is a great idea, but the magnifier doesn't work well enough to hold the attention of my seven year old nephew. The images are fuzzy and only a little clear when dead center field. I was hopeful, but disappointed. We took it to a family reunion and just left it at the beach house when we went home because it just wasn't any good.

Worked pretty good. My child did get use out of it and carried it EVERYWHERE!

Meh. Not what we expected.

My 8-year-old nephew is obsessed with bugs, insects, spiders, etc.and he absolutely loved this scope. I sent it all the way to Czech Republic for his Christmas gift, along with the book "Big Book of Bugs" and he was thrilled! His only disappointment was that bugs aren't easy to find in the wintertime.

The light is extremely weak. The battery seems to have been originally AA but in this model its AAA; the battery compartment looks as if its been modified for the smaller battery size and some older documentation says it takes AA. The light has lots of ventilation which seems odd for a tiny little LED, perhaps it was originally intended to be a more powerful bulb.The view is very distorted due to the concave plexiglass viewing chamber. Its pretty hard to make things out.My son has fun with it though, thats what counts, but I wish it had a brighter light.
