Working great so far!!
I think this has really helped to reduce the inflammation in my joint, and I've been wearing it off and on for about a week, and I've noticed about a 90% reduction in pain. At first it was a bit tight around my toe, and caused a bit of edema in the little toe after wearing for hours, but now I just take it off if it becomes irritating, and it seems to have stretched out a bit, so not too tight anymore. I think this is a great product and beats the 80.00 orthodic inserts (not even custom!) that the podiatrist recommended. It's definitely worth a try if you have pain in your foot from a tailors bunion. The gel is soft and cushiony. I think the realignment of the toe really helps my joint to heal.

Fits in my shoe and does the job!
These pads do the job comfortably and stay in place. I purchased them to cushion a sore area (corn or planters wart) on the sole of ball of my foot. Sometimes I also have a sore tailors bunion. These work well for both. Just slightly twist the pad and the sore corn is cushioned or put it on straight as directed and my bunion is cushioned. Either way the pad is comfortable, stays in place, fits in my shoe and does the trick! They are also easy to wash and are durable. Highly recommend!

Seems to be working...
I have had this for a few weeks and wanted to actually use it for a while before writing the review. These are very soft and cushiony. Comfortable enough to sleep in if you wear socks or use surgical tape to hold in place. Easy to clean and seem to be helping. But, it did take a while to get used to. If you are just sitting around all day this is perfect! It hurt a lot more and became extremely uncomfortable to walk with it on. I ended up buying a pair of sneakers in a WIDE size (normally I wear medium width) and it made a world of difference!! It stopped hurting and I was able to be on my feet longer and walk and jog comfortably as well. I did notice they make an "athletic" model for those who are on their feet more. I didn't check it out enough to see exactly what the difference is though. One negative thing I don't like is it seems to push the next toe beside my pink toe over and sorta under the 3rd toe. It makes it curl over a little too. But once I take it off for a little while the 3rd toe returns to normal. It doesn't hurt the toe, just forces it into an odd position.

Not enough padding where the bunion is
Was ok, helped a little to reduce the pain from my bunion

Not Helpful
The pads only placed more pressure on the bunion and made it worse. Not of any benefit at all.

Great product!
I have been having pain in my feet for several years. Now in my 50s it was getting so that the pain causes me to wake during the night and there is no shoe that is comfortable. I was told that I have bunions and Taylor's bunion that is causing the pain. I figured that I'd like to do something conservative and not jump to surgery to fix the problem and the Dr. Frederick's bunion shield seemed like a good place to start. The very first day that I wore the bunion shield I felt pain relief! I was amazed. I figured over time they would help, but this was within hours of wearing them. They are a nice soft material that fits comfortably over the little toe and seems to align the toe back into its proper position. I wore it with shoes and with sandals, and even barefoot in the house and it was completely comfortable. When it got a little dirty from outside, I washed it under cool water with regular hand soap and it looked like new again. It has only been a week since I have had these, but so far I feel a difference and my pain has diminished tremendously.

How to stop relative movement
The bunion shield is comfortable when initially used. At the end of the day it is painful. It appears the the shield has been moving with respect to the toe as the hole is noticeably larger. If I could prevent the shield from moving with respect to the toe it would be ideal. I am using snug runner's socks Taping the shield in place would be helpful. I would like to know a recommended type of tape compatible with skin adhesion and the shield material. Since the effort to tape the shield is not insignificant for a senior I would wish that it could remain on for a few days. Relative movement defeats the use of the shied. How do you stop it?l Surgical tape prevents movement, but the area over the hole curls up resulting in pain making the shield unusable in 2 days.
