Audio-TechnicaMB-4K Cardioid Condenser Microphone

I know that great specs can be misleading so, even though this attractive item has superb specifications for such an affordable microphone, I called Audio Technica and talked to one of their pro techs. He had actually participated in some comparative tests with this mike and he verified that it's a really special gem of a product. I needed a mike that would work with a AA battery - as most affordable condensors used to. I was stunned to find o0ut how rare this option is nowadays. I also called Shure and AKG and some other manufacturers and they do not have anything comparable. I am feeling very lucky to find a really nice looking brand name microphone that has great sound and can be powered using phantom power from a sound board OR a simple AA battery. I use this hand held for vocal recording and I also use it with a camcorder (using AA battery power). The results are always better than I expect!

For Sub-$100, this mic performs extremely admirably. The mids and highs are clear and crisp, but the low/ bass is a bit "gutted" and lacking. The grille and foam does very little in the way of preventing plosives, so be prepared to use a pop filter or wind screen. Unfortunately, the grille doesn't come off either.This could be a good instrument mic as well!

If your working on a tight church (or any other kind of budget), these microphones fit the bill. We have been using audio technica products in our church for years - everything from pulpit to instruments to choir - wired and wireless - every sound is captured through audio technica microphones. We only purchased these three because our original three have been damaged over the years by a variety of users - some of whom don't take care of the equipment they are borrowing. I purchased these three microphones to use on Sundays and other occasions when I personally will be running the soundboard. After the event, I turn them off with the handy on mic switch to preserve battery, disconnect them, and put the damaged three original mics back on line (which by the way, despite the abuse, still capture sound beautifully). I am very pleased with these microphones. Even though technically they have some lower specifications than the original three, for our purposes (recording the praise team and the piano), they are perfect

One of the best sounding microphones for its price and perfect for karaoke. The cardioid condenser creates a smooth and crisp sounding microphone that is quite unbelievable considering the cost. I have a pair of Shure microphones that are about ten times the price but don't sound as clear as these MB4k's... It's so good that when I had a karaoke party at my house, people came up to me afterwards asking me where they could get this microphone.I ordered 4 more that very same night. Quite the testament to its quality sound and reasonable price.

This is a very good mic. I use it for flute and run it through a Behringer MIC800 preamp. It sounds great. It's a good deal, with the cable that comes with it. On/Off switch, and it runs on phantom power or AA battery. I highly recommend this mic.

The MB-4K is a good microphone but I don't like it having a battery.The overall rating is good and the description of it is good. We are using it in a church with a good sound system and I was impressed with it and will buy another one similar to it but, it won't have a battery.

So far so good. Clear voice, beautiful design. Lady singers will love to hold it in hand. I use it with battery; try with phantom power sometimes. I like using battery more than 48V phantom.

This is my 2nd mic. For our purposes, using a small amp, we've been impressed. Seems like a good quality mic at a good price.
