13 pc Sharp Hollow Punch Tool Set for Leather and Gasket 3/16" - 1-1/4"

Not all that sharp, but the threads match my hole saw arbor so I put the punch on my drill and tuned it up with fine sandpaper. I'm giving it a full enthusiastic 5 stars because it's solidly built and has a wider range of sizes than most sets. I was cutting washers out of 1/16" silicone rubber sheets and found that pushing down hard while rocking in a circle cut better than slamming it with a hammer. You should know that the red part is just a sleeve to hold the steel core. There's a hex bolt on the striking end which isn't all that comfortable to push on but can easily be replaced if you damage it with a hammer. To each his own! The center pin could be longer to see more easily for the larger size punches, and it should have less wiggle, but for thirty bucks the price is right!

Cutting round holes in tough plastic with scissors is a real challenge for people whose hands work correctly. I have the added challenge of a significant tremor, and virtually no useful feeling in my fingers. Trying to cut the hole in the skin barrier for my colostomy was a near impossible task. I went searching for a better solution. I found other individual hole punches but the price for one size was nearly as much as this whole set in a nice protective case. Now I can cut a whole box ahead of time in far less time than it used to take me to butcher one ragged hole by hand. And, if required, I can cut the hole bigger or smaller in 1/8 inch increments. Since I use a soft pine board as a backup under what I am cutting, I expect the punches to last a long time, and stay sharp as they will not contact any hard materials.BOTTOM LINE,,, I'm happy with this tool and would happily recommend it for any similar cutting usage

I have found this to be a very decent punch set for the money. It actually has punches that range in size from 3/16" up to 1-3/8", not just 1-1/4" as stated. It has worked great on leather, cork, neoprene and high temp red rubber gasket material, fiber reinforced high temp gasket material, heavy paper gasket material and polyethylene tarp. I did need to dress the edge of the 1-3/8" punch on my belt sander with a 100-grit belt to sharpen it slightly to help with cutting softer 60 Durometer neoprene gasket sheet, but other than that, all the other punches have worked fine for me. The punch also worked great to make about a dozen new holes in a plastic E-Collar to reduce the size so it would better fit our puppy after surgery to have her spayed. It made nice clean holes so that I could use small plastic tie wraps to cinch it together.FYI: The center pin play can be adjusted with the same socket head screw that retains it in the shaft. Snugging it down then backing it off slightly gives the correct clearance with no excess wiggle or slop. I put a dab of silicone grease in the bore and used Vibratite removable thread lock on this screw and also on the removable striking bolt on top that retains the rubber grip.I normally use a small rock maple wood block for a backer and a 32-ounce ball peen hammer to strike the punch and this has worked well on everything I have tried it with so far, giving nice clean holes in the materials. Overall I'm quite happy with the set, especially considering the modest cost.

They work well, and look like they will work for a long time if used properly. The cutting edge could be honed sharper, but it is easy enough to do if you have some way of spinning the punches, and it is not even necessary for most materials. I recommend getting a 5/8" washer to put between the die and the punch handle if you don't want the center pin protruding and poking holes in thin material. (A washer fits nicely below the bottom of the punch handle, almost like the case was made to hold one).

This is a really great punch set. It is my 4th punch set and far better than the previous three. I especially like the quality machining, the great case and the really nice handle that accepts all the punches. You can really cut through thick material by banging on the steel at the top of the handle with a hammer. I used wood as the backing under the punched piece. This worked well for tough velcro pieces.

Some instructions would've been nice to include...I felt the description was limited, but based on others feedback decided to buy these for crafting projects, as the ranges of the circles are great. But not sharp enough for foamboard, leather or basalt wood. Also if you're wanting to cut a circle, you can't, as it gets punctured in the middle. Might sound silly, but thought I'd comment for the other crafter out there. Good product though.

Really liking this punch set, as it is easy to change out the different sizes of punch, the rubber handle is comfortable to hold,. and cover allows the steel punch to slide out, to access the set screw that holds the center punch pin set. Nice range of sizes and the case keeps everything handy and easy to identify what fits where.
