These Are Upgrades For The Vast Majority Of Systems
First, I’m going to address one review who stated these are counterfeit. I think that worry is baseless. These speakers aren’t sold in the kind of quantities that would make counterfeiting worthwhile. They’re very well constructed, and sound a million times better than the garbage my boat came with.I can’t speak of the LED feature as I don’t have a light controller for them. That feature does make the speakers stand out further when mounted. I would have opted to take it off and mount the speakers more flush to the cabinets. We’re not talking about sticking way out though. It’s not a deal breaking thing to me.What does bother me in my installation is that the openings for these need to be larger than my original 6 1/2” speakers. The baskets are larger. It’s not easy enlarging an already cut hole. In my case, one speaker was mounted in fiberglass. That one was easier to enlarge with a Dremel, but fiber glass dust is no fun. I had to wear long sleeves, a glove, and a mask. The others were in wood, but the wood has foam and vinyl covering it. The foam is glued on. Enlarging these holes isn’t so easy. I tried to peel away as much as needed so I could run a jigsaw around it. We’re not talking about a lot. Maybe 3/16” ring around the edge. Take too much off and you won’t have anything to screw into to mount the speakers. The distance from the rim to the mounting holes is pretty small. I would have been happier if they were out further to the edge of the grill. What about the sound? Well, I doubt that for this price you’ll find anything as good. They’re crystal clear even running straight off my less than adequate Millennia head unit. In fact, the improvement is so pronounced, it has me rethinking my plans of replacing it. These speakers are more efficient than the old and I’m not looking to set any decibel records. I do think more power would give a more full, rich sound. We’ll see. One thing to note as well is that the tweeters are not on the same plane as the woofers. They are angled slightly upward. This makes sense because most boat speakers are mounted near the floor. Tweeters should be at ear level. Angling them up toward the listener is a decent attempt to combat the limitations of the installation area. I looked at the speakers in all my neighbors’ boats. Like my old ones; the tweeters fired straight out. Perhaps other higher end models have this feature as well, but it’s the first time I’ve seen it and I appreciate it.Bottom line is I really like these speakers. I’m picky. It drives my wife crazy, but I want to hear symbols sound like symbols, not a muffled mess. I want to hear vocals sound clear. I feel these are a bit on the bright side, but boats are hardly acoustically optimal places to install stereo systems. I feel I hit a home run. They’d get five stars from me if not for the installation problems. If you’re starting from scratch, they’re no more difficult to install than any other speaker. If you’re replacing speakers, measure the opening on your old ones and compare that to the required opening of these. Know what you’re getting into.

Better than expected
Great speakers! Sound and looks both. I installed them on the swim deck of my Scarab jet boat. Couldn't be happier.Someone had a question about how they arrive. I attached a pic of the box that they arrived in.

No filter. They look good and sond good but after 30 vol sounds really bad . Cheap assembly in my opinion.
