GREAT pre screen filter.
Works as it should doing the pre-screen. Used it without the main filter hooked up and just moving my mead to another jug. Got the few bits that wouldnt drop out and I had clear mead without having to use the main filter.Used it today with the primary filter pump and it worked great. Caught some bits that had been missed in my mead. Also used it for 5 gallons of wine today. And it did what it was designed for. Its a great prescreen filter.

Works well, serves its purpose, cheaper when sourced on Amazon under
Used as a pre filter with the Buon Vino Mini Jet Pump. This will definitely save your pump from any seeds, stalks or debris that can damage your pump. Highly recommend and it works as expected. It is washable and will last as long as care is taken to clean after each use. I also saw it for much less than the price I purchased with the pump on Amazon.Search for Flojet Strainer, Stainless Steel, In-Line, 1/2" Barb 01740-002A on Amazon

Don't use this on the same filtration as the BV pads
Just my experience for what it's worth, but when I used this pre screen filter at the same time as the Buon Vino Mini Jet, the BV leaked/ sprayed wine everywhere. If there are large particles in your wine, filter with this once before running your wine through BV filter pads unless you want a huge mess. The BV instructions from what I recall mentioning a pre screen filter for charred oak chips, but not that this and the filter pads cannot or should not be used at the same time.

This is a must have for filtering fruit wines
I used it to protect the pump of the filter while filtering elderberry wine. The particles in the wine would be sufficient to lock up the pump if not used. This allowed for filtering without any issues. The filtered wine came out exceptionally clear using the coarse filters and then filtering with the #2 filter set. Once again, I highly recommend this prefilter. One thing to note is that this is a directional flow filter so be sure to find the arrows on the body of it, and set up your hoses to flow in the direction of the arrows. You have to look close to spot the arrows, but they are definitely there.

Worth it for the budding homebrewer.
This little product is so easy to use and a must buy to elevate your wine and beer to a higher level. It can catch trub (if you really wanted to put it to the test) and it can catch hops, fruit, seeds, etc. It is the perfect prefilter before the actual filtering of the brew/wine/mead/Melomiel.10/10 would buy again!

Comforting you know you have a pre-filter, not big enough to work as a solids filter
The concept of this is a great idea. I had a peach wine that after some initial settling and seperation I manually scooped out as much of the solid as I could. Ultimately it didnt have enough surface area to handle the amount of residual solids I was still sucking up.This is less of a failure point of the part so much as it was mine for not clarifying my batch better.I have a hard time thinking of a scenario where this serves a practical purpose except for if you simply have minimal rogue solitaire still in suspension which is unlikely.Great as a peace of mind filter, not enough surface area to work as a solid filter.
