Q: Is this tempered or untempered? Tempering involves oils to impregnate the surface. Does it contain these oils?

I bought 2 different wood sizes from two different Sellers. This was much darker than the other Sellers board. I honestly can't say if it's "Tempered" or not. I'm new to MDF Board. I do decorative painting and I always used to use Baltic Birch but it's price has gotten way too high. I am painting on it for the first time right now on a project and my husband cut the design board out of one of these pieces. I always seal and sand my pieces and I did the same with this. The painting surface is very nice so I am pleased. To answer your question with true knowledge I'd suggest contacting the Seller.

THESE ARE MEDIUM DENSITY FIBERBOARD IT IS NOT HARDBOARD SO IT IS SMOOTH ON BOTH SIDES

Q: I wanted to use this wood to transfer a picture on to it. Would this wood be good for that?

There is a rougher side and a smoother side. They are made out of compressed fibers. After spray painting, I had to sand to make them smooth again. I think it would work on the smoother side, but would not guarantee.
