Origami R5 Series Foldable 4-Tier Heavy-Duty Steel Storage Rack, Pewter

The Origami storage racks are great! I purchased 2 of them when it was offered on Amazon's Gold Box Deal of the Day. I purchased the Origami R5-01W model with wheels because I might occasionally need to move or relocate the storage racks after installation. I purchased one for use in my kitchen and one for use in my home office. The storage racks arrived folded up flat in boxes. Inside the boxes, they were enclosed in plastic bags for protection. After being removed from the boxes and plastic bags, they opened up effortlessly by unlocking a catch lever that keeps them locked together. Once the storage rack is opened, there is a catch lock mechanism located on the back of it that must be engaged to provide stability and complete setup. The storage racks are tall, wide and deep. Each storage rack shelf is about 35.8" wide x 20.85" deep and each storage rack stands 60" high, when assembled. I like the way these storage racks are designed. The quality is actually much better than I expected. They are very well constructed, nicely finished and very strong. Setup was a snap! No nuts, bolts, parts lists or instructions were needed because no assembly was required! I removed the storage rack from the box, placed it on its side, attached the wheels (A double sided wrench is included in the shipping box to facilitate attachment of the wheels to the storage rack.), stood it up on the wheels and snapped the top shelf down. Note: Folding over the top shelf and locking it down while the storage rack is standing up can be a problem if you are assembling it in an area with a very low ceiling. However, if you have this problem, you can easily just lay the storage rack down on its side, fold the top shelf over and lock it down. Then you can just stand the storage rack up on its wheels and roll it wherever you want to position it. A set of four wheels is included with each Origami R5-01W storage rack. Two of the four wheels are locking wheels. The locking wheels help keep the storage rack from accidently moving after installation. I put the locking wheels on the front of the storage racks as shown in the pictures on the boxes. The 4 wheels included with the Origami R5-01W storage rack are a bit small and the maximum weight capacity (storage rack with wheels installed) is 75 pounds per shelf. Caution: This weight capacity must be evenly distributed on the shelf. Place heavier items on the bottom shelves. These Origami storage racks are designed for use on hard, flat and level surfaces. Do not exceed the, maximum weight capacity. If you desire more weight capacity and/or easier movement of the storage rack with wheels, you can easily replace the 4 smaller wheels included with the Origami R5-01W storage rack with a set of Origami Shelf Heavy Duty Wheels. I decided to purchase 2 sets of the Origami Shelf Heavy Duty Wheels because the wheels are thicker, larger and the maximum weight capacity (storage rack with heavy duty wheels installed) is 170 pounds per shelf. Caution: This weight capacity must be evenly distributed on the shelf. Place heavier items on the bottom shelves. These storage racks are designed for use on hard, flat and level surfaces. Do not exceed the, maximum weight capacity. The Origami Shelf Heavy Duty Wheels facilitate easier and safer movement or relocation of the storage racks after installation. Actually, if you want to install the storage racks with wheels, I would suggest purchasing the storage racks without the wheels and purchasing a set of the Origami Shelf Heavy Duty Wheels separately. Otherwise, you might end up with unused sets of the smaller wheels that are included in the boxes with the Origami R5-01W Storage Racks (Like I did). Note: If you have no need to move the storage rack after setup and you do not want to use wheels, I would suggest purchasing the Origami R5-01 General Purpose 4-Shelf Steel Collapsible Storage Rack (no wheels). Installed without wheels, the maximum weight capacity for the Origami R5-01 is 250 pounds per shelf on level surface with weight evenly distributed. It may be a great choice for use in a garage, office or warehouse. The AMAZON Product Information Technical Details webpages do not give accurate information concerning the dimensions of the storage rack wheels. For the wheels included in the box with the Origami R5-01W storage rack, Product Information Technical Detail specifies the following approximate wheel dimensions: (5.2 x 5.5 x 2 inches). The wheels that I actually received have the following approximate dimensions: (3 1/2 x 1 7/8 x 7/8 inches). The wheels including the housing extend approximately 2.5 inches from the bottom of the storage rack after installation. The height of the storage rack with these wheels installed is approximately 62.5 inches. For the wheels included in the box with the Origami Shelf Heavy Duty Wheels, Product Information Technical Detail specifies the following approximate wheel dimensions: (7.2 x 7.5 x 2.8 inches). The wheels that I actually received have the following approximate dimensions: (5.5 x 3 x 1 inch). The heavy duty wheels including the housing extend approximately 3.5 inches from the bottom of the storage rack after installation. The height of the storage rack with these wheels installed is approximately 63.5 inches. Without wheels installed, the size dimensions of the Origami storage rack when folded are approximately 20 ¼" W x 2 ½" D x 60" high. With the Origami Shelf Wheels (smaller wheels) installed, the size dimensions of the Origami storage rack when folded are approximately 20 ¼" W x 2 ½" D x 62 ½" high. With the Origami Shelf Heavy Duty Wheels installed, the size dimensions of the Origami storage rack when folded are approximately 20 ¼" W x 2 ½" D x 63 ½" high. The Origami General Purpose 4-Shelf Steel Collapsible Storage Racks are a great buy! They are just perfect for my needs. I especially like the way that the storage racks easily fold up and roll out of the way when you don't need them. They take up very little space when folded, yet they provide a lot of storage space when unfolded. I would definitely recommend the Origami Storage Racks to others.

This has been the best shelving unit I've ever purchased. I purchased this shelving unit to put things in storage and utilize the vertical space. I wanted something that would be easy to handle when we got the storage unit, and easy to break down and move once we were ready to move the stuff from the storage unit. I also needed a shelving system that would be sturdy enough to use at home once we were finished with using them in storage. This is the perfect system for all of our needs. It took about 5 minutes to unbox it and set it up. There was nothing to build, no parts to lose, no parts to tighten or loosen, etc. It really is as easy as the video shows. If I ever need any more shelves, these will be my go-to. It was easy enough to set up that I, a 50 year old female, at 5'4" did it myself. It has been one of the best purchases I've made. I'll try to remember to take a picture whenever I go back to the storage unit to show just how much these shelves can hold.

I have so many ORIGAMI shelves across all my homes—basements, garages, everywhere—and they’re hands‑down the best folding shelves out there. They’re incredibly well made, sturdy, and unbelievably easy to use. I own everything from the smallest units to the largest, and I love and use them all. They fold almost completely flat for storage, and the “assembly” is basically just screwing in the wheels or feet and snapping the shelf into place. One person can easily set them up. The shelves hold a great amount of weight and offer plenty of width and height. Truly a fantastic storage solution.

Fantastic!!!! I ordered these for a Food Pantry. These are very durable and sturdy. They can hold a nice load of food. They come completely assembled. Pull straight out the box. Wheel comes with the Origami shelving system. No tools needed to put them on. If you need organization in your home, garage, food pantry etc… you can’t go wrong with these. I ordered these about 10 years ago for my home from a shopping network. They are in perfect condition. No warping, no rusting or chipping! I recommend Origami shelving system. I will purchase 3 more for the pantry.

Product Works very well for intended use. Easy to setup and great price for 3 shelf and 4 shelf bundle. That said both of my shelf units arrived damaged with damage to cardboard box and to shelving units. Had to use a monkey wrench, c-clamps, bar clamps and on one area a small sledgehammer to bend shelving unit back to original condition. Further one shelf had what appeared to be a missed weld at assembly so small wire rod was sticking out on front of shelf. Used two twist-ties to attach it to rest of shelf grid. In addition the 4 shelf unit had multiple paint blisters fortunately along top shelf frame along back top surface. Put clear scotch tape over them to keep from having them catch and tear skin. Would have returned both units if I had paid full price for them because these are clearly seconds or returned items. Write-up did not mention that these are not first quality units but in two out of two units they are not 100% good quality units. Both cardboard boxes had additional tape applied to them and were beat to pieces indicative a very rough transportation experience but that doesn't explain missed welds and blistering paint. I only mention all these items because they are really well made shelves but you may have to correct some problems with them on your own? Maybe I was unlucky but both shelves had too many issues wrong with them to just be by accident in my assessment. Honestly feel like Amazon should give me a partial refund for not being clear these units have defects which need to be addressed for safe use by the buyer? Original packing was not strong enough for the heavy shelves. Would have given them 5 Stars if they didn't have defects and damage on them as received. Kudos to the designers of them they did 95% of the job of making a great product. Too bad they didn't put that extra 5% effort into packaging them properly. Even with defects and damage the two shelf unit combo is a good value in my opinion. Can't imagine what it would cost to build the same size shelves out of wood today and they wouldn't be as handy to setup/fold up for storage/etc.

I love the origami items I've purchase so far and this is now my favorite. It was unpackaged and set-up in 5 minutes because I took the time to install the casters and take pictures along the way. With only 2-3 latches, it is ALREADY assembled, except for the casters. Each corner post has a wheel/caster and two of the four have can lock in place. I chose to keep my locking casters on the backside for looks. I differentiated the front from the back by leaving the diagonal bracing in the back, and the small ORIGAMI name plate on the front. **In the photo attached, please see that the top shelf is hinged on the left and hanging down. If you are in a room with a low ceiing, please know that the top shelf is on the left side of the shelving unit. Once you unfold it (think stroller, or ironing board for the collapsing mechanism), the top shelf is hinged on the short side. Think about a hoodie. The hood is on your back and must be lifted up and over your head. In this case you will lift the shelf and move in a clockwise direction from 6 o'clock to 3 o'clock to move the top shelf into its place. My unit was slightly out of square, so with a little extra pressure, the shelve slid in between the right two corners. I am so pleased with it. I discovered that origami makes a solid surface liner for the shelves that magnetically stays attached. **If you are interested, read all the information in its ad. The liners are not interchangeable between all of the model numbers. This unit is powder coated steel, well balanced and thought-out. I love its casters, and that the unit can be paired up with additional units for a cohesive look. **Note that the measurements between the shelves is different between shelves 1&2, 2&3 and 3&4. The last one gives you an additional inch of headroom becuase the shelf on top is hinged and sits on top of the normal location of the other shelves. The overall dimension of my white R5 shelving unit is 36" wide, 21" deep and 62" high including the casters/wheels. The casters added just under 3". The interior dimensions of the shelf space is 18" depth of the shelf, and between the upright corners, it's 35". The height of the surface of a shelf to the lowest part of the shelf above is 17" for the lowest 2 shelves, 18.5" for the 3rd shelf, with the forth shelf open above. Highly recommend.

This is my sixth Origami for the basement. They are wonderful. I like that I can roll them to clean underneath! Super easy set up! Sturdy and built to last.

El que sea plegable es muy práctico, esta lleno de cajas de ropa y blancos y aguanta muy bien. Las rueditas igual nos han funcionado perfecto a lo largo de estos dos años.

Used this for my pantry. Great product! The shelves are very sturdy and easy to use (just unfold) or move. I have 8 large, heavy storage bins on shelves with no problem. Since the bins are clear I can easily see the contents and remove / slide the bins from the shelves easily to access items as needed. Also, since this in a remote summer home I had to transport the shelves myself in the back of my SUV.. along with other luggage. No problem. The shelves collapse down very thin and are easy to transport.

Yo lo compré para aprovechar un espacio muerto que usaba como bodega pero era muy difícil de encontrar las cosas y ahora pcon este mueble con llantas el espacio es más optimizado. El mueble es muy fácil de armar... literalmente solo se despliega y ya queda listo. El mueble me llegó con un pequeño desperfecto (ligera abolladura) pero dado que lo voy a usar para en una bodega preferí ya quedármelo.

The shelves are sturdy and NO assembly other than whelks if you want them on for movement to other areas. Excellent!
