Perfect portable radio
I bought this for use at our cottage when the power goes out but have used it at the beach and out in the yard at home. The sound is fine for a small radio, the reception is good even in the mountains and the batteries last a long time. It is also light and small enough to pack even in a large purse or small tote or suitcase.

Trรจs bon produit.
J'avais dรฉjร achetรฉ ce poste il y a environ 15 ans, il commenรงait ร donner des signes de faiblesse de fixation de l' antenne. J'ai voulu racheter le mรชme qui me donnait toute satisfaction pour mes dรฉplacements. Pas trop simple de rรฉgler les frรฉquences (sans doute ร cause de la petite taille), mais trรจs bonne rรฉception, et son parfait. Donc trรจs satisfait.

Awesome Radio
After reading 300+ reviews on Amazon. Com I decided to buy this amazing radio as I am a radio lover . currently I have 5 radio device but this radio has left behind all my previous radio. My pros and cons are:- Pros 2) Excellent reception quality no distortion while travelling through bike. 2) 2AA batteries required as I can use rechargeable batteries currently using 2800mah rechargeable batteries playing non stop 24 hrs daily. 3) very light weight. Cons:- 1) costly as this imported radio 2) plastic is little flimsy but ok with it but needs extra care as I spend 1500 for this radio. 3) sound output is good not excellent as increasing volume may cause distortion. Overall GOOD SHOPPING EXPERIENCE WITH AMAZON Must buy for those persons who love listening Radio as I do!!!!

Rating might depend on why you buy it
We bought this little radio for someone who had to be in hospital for a fairly long time and it proved to be ideal. It isn't stereo which would be an instant no-no for some avid radio fans but for our purposes it was a really good buy. It's a resilient little thing having been accidentally knocked off an over-bed table several times by accident. It was used practically all day every day and the batteries seemed to have a pretty long life. It's size and small weight meant it was easy to be carried around in a wheelchair, or in a large pocket and the old-fashioned dials for volume and tuning were sturdy and easy to handle for someone with a disability and frail hands. Like in the old days there could be a bit of fiddling to get it in the right physical position to have it tuned in perfectly but after a fair bit of rough handling, dropping, having things spilled on it...it still goes strong. It was a bargain for us in our circumstances. The only slight, but very slight, downside was that sometimes the volume would either be completely off or when you moved the dial it would only be really loud. But this may have been with the unusual amount of wear and tear it had. It worked well indoors and outdoors and was absolutely reliable during months and months of a hospital stay and is still going strong.

Easily exceeds expectations
I've had it less than a week, but I can already tell this is a great little radio! I bought it to use as part of my bike camping kit and for odd occasions when I might want or need to listen to the radio but not have one easily accessible otherwise. I'm in the Kansas City area and my favorite radio shows come out of Lawrence on 91.5 FM. Reception can be finicky with my other radios but this little Sony pulls it in strong and clear. It also clearly pulls in two FM stations out of Topeka that none of my other radios, save a vintage Kenwood tuner, can get clearly. On the AM band, local stations come in loud and clear. During nighttime hours, I've so far pulled in 27 out-of-market stations, some clearly, some not so clearly, from Denver to Atlanta, San Antonio to Toronto (856 miles away!) I also get snippets from many others, but not clearly enough to identify them. All this while inside surrounded by interference producing electronic items. I suspect long distance reception will improve when used outside on clear nights or with an auxiliary antenna. I'll probably rarely actively listen to any of these stations, but it is fun to play with and a testament to just how good this little radio is. For a low-cost, portable, pleasant sounding, easy to use radio, this little Sony cannot be beat. I expect to get a lot of use and enjoyment out of this little marvel. Edit 03/16/15: I continue to be amazed by this little marvel. I've reached for it much more often than I anticipated I would when I bought it. With the return of warmer weather I have used it outside a few times on clear nights. Once outside and away from all sources of electronic interference, the results on the AM band have been stunning. I have to date logged 45 out-of-market stations. I can receive several distant stations at near the quality of local stations. These include 650 WSM, Nashville; 700 WLW, Cincinnati; 670 WSCR, 720 WGN, 780 WBBM, all from Chicago; 830 WCCO, Minneapolis; 840 WHAS, Louisville; 850 KOA, Denver; 870 WWL, New Orleans; 940 KIXZ, Amarillo. Amazingly, when conditions are optimal, I can receive 740 CFZM, Toronto (856 miles distant) with minor static, but still listenable. I had expected to use this radio sporadically, mainly for bike camping on nice weekends. I didn't expect to like it so much and to want to use it as much as I have. For simple, enjoyable, inexpensive entertainment, this little gem is a real winner.
