Good Detection Good Quality
The package arrived from Amazon’s efficient delivery personnel directly to my porch with a minimal amount of damage not visible on the outside, probably a little shelf rash from storage-- but nothing that affected the camera and accessories. There was a large sticker on the outside reminding you to register online for your warranty. Of course, I accidentally tossed it out with the plastic wrap, so I had to go back and get it out of the trash can. Silly me. The trail cam and accessories were safely packed inside, secure from harm. The trail cam comes with an adapter cord with a USB connector to hook up to your PC or laptop, a mini-jack multi-plug that converts on the other end to the two RCA plugs for playback on a TV or CRT screen (like we’re used to seeing on a VCR or similar) and a nylon mounting strap for securing to trees or poles. Also included is a different warranty card than the sticker on the outside and an easy to read 30 + page manual booklet in English (I noticed some of the other reviews and comments had said they got booklets in other languages) and a small troubleshooting-type booklet labeled a quick guide. I found the trail cam fairly easy to set up-- except for one thing, which is probably due to my overlooking it. The button to release the battery tray is on the front, inside of the door protecting the camera face and buttons, on the lower right-hand corner labeled ‘open’. I must admit it took me several minutes to find it, but that may be related to the camera being made an olive drab color and the writing being in black and a small font. I could see that the battery door was spring loaded and wanted to come open but I didn't want to pry it or poke on it too hard. So, I fiddled with it for a few moments, and actually went against the man code and read the book! the book wasn't really a lot of help for finding the button for the battery door, I kind of found it by accident. A small surprise to the techie in me, was that they are still using full-size SD cards for trail cams, not the mini SD cards they're using in most tablets and phones now. I was half expecting it would need a mini SD card, but luckily, I had a couple of the large full-size SD cards still hanging around. I put a 4 gig SD card in and loaded the battery tray with eight AA alkaline batteries. You slide the main selector switch to the test position and then toggle between options just set your preferences. For my initial setup, I accepted most of the default settings. I tried it out in an almost dark living room, and it caught pictures of the cat and the dog walking through, with no visible flash. To ‘test’ the camouflage aspect of it, I set it on our porch near the door as wifey was coming home to see if she’d notice, and she did not- so I’d say that part is pretty good as well. I’m going to set this out in our back yard to see if I can catch some of the critters we’ve had roaming about of late, and see how photogenetic they are.Is this camera a good deal? I’d say it is, Would I buy it again? Sure, if I need another one! Thanks for reading my review.

Great camera for video & stills, small form factor and very fairly priced for the features
This a great camera for still photos, video or a combination @ 12mp and 1920x1080 video. I love that it was easy and intuitive to setup. Some reviewer said the product manual is not good but I found it easy to understand. There is a timer setting that disables the camera when not within the programmed time period, this a great feature to prevent nuisance trips when not wanted either day or night. The integral camera display is high quality and allows “in the field” review of captured images. The camera can be operated from 8 AA batteries or an included wall power cable.I have the camera setup in my backyard to capture picture of the local wildlife. So far in one night we have captured video of a Bob Cat (about 15 pounds) and 2 Coyotes making their rounds in the neighborhood. There is no flash or visible light emitted during operation so your subject is not scared off or alerted. Other uses are programmable time lapse. I plan to use the time lapse to photograph the newly blooming Buttercup flowers in the yard. I have always wanted to set up a time lapse camera but never had a weatherproof camera with a timer to be able to do that.It comes with a nice nylon strap to use for tree or post mounting the camera. The waterproof case appears to be well made, time will tell about its being totally weatherproof. The camera's small size makes it easy to hide if you have a need for a security application to see who is coming or going in a location.Cons: I would like to have a larger capacity SD card capability but you can get a lot of 15 second videos and 5 picture bursts on a 32 gig SD card. It is really easy to review and delete video from the camera without using a computer so you can clear out unwanted data on the spot and put it back to work.

A great surveillance tool.
The media could not be loaded. This is a nice little camera, simple to set up and even simpler to use. The unit is packed with infrared sensors which assist in capturing low light stills and video. The quality is really good. Advertised distance is roughly accurate. Operation is simple and aside from configuring the unit (video quality, surveillance mode, timestamp, etc) the camera pretty much does all the work on its own, recording events only when movement is detected. This makes it a must have for hunters and surveillance buffs looking to scout locations for game and overall activity over a period of time. The camera does still images and video, or a combination of both in hybrid mode. This is stored on an sd card, the recommendation being a maximum of 32gb and class 10. Battery life is variable based on the user's settings and how long the camera records each occurrence of motion that it detects. The video clips are tagged with a host of information among which is a user adjustable longitude and latitude coordinate that allows you to see where the recording took place along with the current temperature at the given time. The case shields the unit from the elements and in this sense, it is water, dust and corrosion-proof. It is not submersible, however. The camera can be password protected and physically locked. There is even an option to give the unit a unique name. This is a surveillance tool at its core and it performs that job rather well.
