I have several of these cans... I use them in my basement to store different types of birdseed: suet (in their packaging), Niger seed (loose), and all-purpose birdseed (loose). Should a mouse get in the basement, they cannot chew through the cans, so the seed is safe, and doesn't attract them. I would imagine one could do the same and keep these outdoors, with appropriate lid protection so raccoons cannot get into them. Sturdy, but not too heavy.

I cannot find these cans anywhere. I live on a farm and you cannot put dry food or bird seed in plastic cans in the garage or barn. You will definitely have a mouse problem. I have one can for cat food, one for bird seed, one for mineral for the cattle. These are just wonderful. They arrived earlier than expected. They were shipped without any dents, or damage. I am very pleased. If I need more, I will not hesitate to order these again. Great product.

Honestly I just bought this as a poop can for my dogs. There’s more that goes into that. A poop can cannot allow water into it because that smell is pure evil. The lid fits snug into the can and with a contractor bag in it it’s very snug which is what I wanted. It’s not a very big can but I wouldn’t call it small either. So far it’s held up really well against the rain and wind all while keeping my dogs poop dry as can be. Very happy with the purchase

Arrived fast and fine. It did have a dent in the side but nothing major. It is a trash can I am using for my bird seed. It will get the job done perfectly well.

The can itself is fine. The lid is easy enough to get off and hopefully my labradoodle pup doesn’t figure out how to take it off! We have a small dog, a large puppy, and a cat. Needed a larger storage solution once we got our newest addition. We have a small house and all the plastic bins weren’t attractive, so this was my best solution without spending a ton of money on custom. Holds 3 bags of pet food well.Shipped way sooner than expected, however, someone in shipping decided it was a good idea to stick a UPS shipping label sleeve directly on the lid. I spend quite a bit of time picking and scraping it off then going back with Goo Gone and more scrubbing. Eventually it mostly came off, but was very annoying. There are still a few marks but not worth returning to me.

We wanted a nice looking retro style bin with a tight lid to use in our garage as we were having a fly problem.This bin looks fantastic, the lid is nice and tight (no more flies) and it's nice and sturdy.A true classic!

I do not recommend this can for any purpose where rodents getting into the can for the sustenance inside is not an issue. Details: I put a 4lb. bag of cat food in it and then couldn't get the lid on because the top of the can became oval,(not round) with the pressure of the bag below on opposite sides of the tapered can and the round lid wouldn't go back on. . So then I took the bag out and rerounded the lip of the can, poured the contents of the bag into the can and the lid would go on, but pop back up on one side. So if this is a"tight fitting lid" like described in other review then it going on a Possibly slightly unround can SHOULD kind of lock it in place BETTER on some sort of rounded ridge inside the lid or on the outside of the can which it Obviously lacks. But it doesn't. no matter what I doThe lid goes on easy and then pops back up.So I have a can that NEVER worked with it's own lid, I have to put 10 lbs. of barbell weights on it to keep it down. And this is not a sturdy well built can as claimed in other reviews. it is flimsy. it is suited only for indoor use only because of the lid that doesn't stay on and the thinness of the metal. THe only reason I got metal is because I had rats getting into the food and rats can chew through plastic containers. It works for that purpose on my porch with the food poured directly into with the weights on the lid. I do not recommend this can for any other purpose where rodents getting into the can for the sustenance inside is not an issue.The reason I wanted to put the whole bag in instead of pouring the contents in the bag is because I do not trust manufacturers to not make container products that are devoid of poisonous chemicals leaching into my dog's cat food. In fact really don't even trust the manufacturers of the dog food bag or the dog food since both food and container manufacturers POISON PEOPLE with their products &our government does not prevent them from doing so. So, knowing what I know about our government and corporations, I do the best I can to minimize the poisoning of myself &my family which includes my dog..

Exactly what I wanted/needed to dump woodstove ashes in. Some other reviews said the ones they got had dents & other damage but mine had none. It isn’t as heavy duty as some others are but is perfect for my use. If I should ever need another can to keep more black sunflower bird seed in I will definitely order one of these.
