Filmmaking For Kids

I got this for my granddaughter who is constantly making her own films with her sister & friends. She is very creative so I thought this book could maybe give her some new ideas about filmmaking.

My 8-year-old son read this book from cover to cover from the moment it arrived on the front doorstep. He only stopped halfway through after developing his story and characters to ask me for my phone so he could begin making his movie (the latter half of the book covers the editing process). He made a one-minute movie on my phone using Legos using the tips and guidance of this book. "Filmmaking for Kids" is written with kid-friendly language that is engaging, fun, and easy to understand. As a mom ( and former Children's Librarian) I highly recommend this book to kids (or anyone) looking to learn about filmmaking. Your kids will be making their own movies in no time!

This is a beautiful book for any kids that have the desire to explore a career or even a hobby of film making for todays climate, even within social media. There are even tips adults can use whom may be looking to improve their social media presence/composition, and can learn in a easy to understand manner. Fun and informative, well put together for any creative young future film maker.

Another great book from Kelly Schwarze! It is a workbook for kids in an easy to read format. I appreciate that it includes a chapter on storytelling and uses the 3 act structure that is easy to understand. My husband has a film degree and I have a theater degree and this book is a great tool to help us share our passion for storytelling and filmmaking to our 8 and 10 year old. This is also a great tool that kids (and adults) can use to make short films and high quality/story driven YouTube videos. It also doesn’t require any fancy equipment and everything can be done with a pencil, a camera or phone and this book. This is also a great gift to buy for young aspiring filmmakers!

Some good ideas to start and make a movie or story. Wish it had more framing ideas. A lot of editing stuff at the end though. Maybe youtube is better for up-to-date stuff.
