Inov8 Trailroc 285 Running Shoes Built to deal with hard-packed trails around the world, no matter how rocky. The redesigned TRAILROC 285 offers protection, support and comfort across every terrain. Supreme grip and all-over protection are combined with increased heel cushioning and support to deliver the ultimate shoe for training and racing. Inov8 Shoe Fit Scale For technical footwear, a good fit is essential to enhance your performance. Inov8's new Shoe Fit Scale makes it easier to find the perfect fitting shoe. All Inov8 shoes are designed with Met-Cradle technology to lock down the mid-foot for a stable hold, where they differ is in the toe box. The shoes are now graded from 1 to 5, Grade 1 representing their closest, most precise fit and Grade 5 representing the widest fitting toe box. The lower the number on the scale, the narrower the fit, which ensures minimal internal movement of the foot when running fast on technical terrain. Shoes with the higher numbers on the scale will suit athletes with a wider foot and those wanting that extra comfort in the toe box. This wider toe box allows the toes to splay for increased stability when lifting heavy weights. It's also perfect for longer runs and races when toes begin to swell. Inov8 have graded the Trailroc 285 Running Shoes as Grade 3. Upper Mesh uppers will encase each foot in durable comfort. Perforates in the fabric increase airflow; creating a better, healthier environment for your feet to thrive in. TPU overlays wrap the midfoot to increase support and durability; serving as extra protection against wear and tear. A toe bumper reinforces the shoe's trail-worthy state; defending your feet against roots, rocks and other general hazards. The padded tongue and collar unite to supply next-to-skin comfort and an irritation-free fit, because we recognise how rubbing and blisters can ruin your day. An external heel counter cradles the heel without hindering the Achilles. It anchors the foot to the mi

Comes out small and lacks in flexibility
I bought the trailroc to replace my trail talon 235, unfortunately no longer available this is a big shame I loved the trail talon it did everything I wanted from a shoe. It lacks in mid foot cushioning and not as flexible as the Trail Talon. I admit they are not the same shoe but why stop making the Trail Talon ?

Comfy, stylish, technical
Have only been on 3 runs while writing this. I normally take a 10.5UK but had to go half a size up with this trainer. I have a wide foot, but it's a comfy fit with no issues so far. They felt very good on the sandstone and Forrest route that I take. Like them very much

Don’t mix your shoes
Tight fit and very flat but lightweight and strong.

Good light trail shoe with enough grip for most trails
Very nice trail shoes, good grip as expected with Inov8, fit is a little neater than ideal, I would go a half size up on your regular trainer size with these

Tighter fit than normal.
I have bought numerous pairs of Inov8 shoes over the years with the standard width size normally suiting my wide feet fine. These however, are a slightly tighter fit (as advertised) due to expected use of this style, i.e. trail walking/running on rocky terrain. Fortunately I managed to just get away with my normal size 10.5, but if I ever ordered another pair I would definitely go up a half size (recommended). They are a snug fit in the heel area which I have found very reassuring on rocky terrain, also they seem to have reasonably tough uppers. I have had some issues with several of my Inov8 shoes with very poor quality uppers i.e. stitching failing after just a few wears (Roclite 295 being the worst example) Bad Habit of buying too early so guarantee runs out before using!!! The Trailroc 285's have proved comfortable to wear and reassuringly grippy in mountainous terrain and seem to be wearing well. Will revert with update re longevity etc.

Uppers wore out before the sole - not robust
Nice fitting shoes, decent support and quite comfortable. The uppers wore out (above the little toe) on both shoes within a few weeks -- they'd snagged on rocks/shrubs whilst out -- I'd expected something a little more robust
