Matador Camera Base Layer

I bought the base layer for a trip to Iceland, in order to protect my camera from the elements, and it performed even better than expected. The insulation kept my camera warm so my battery didn't die, the extra padding protected my lens throughout the day, and the waterproof sleeve was a lifesaver when it started to rain unexpectedly. In any place with an unpredictable climate, I would recommend getting one of these for each of your cameras.Overall, it was super easy to use and unfolded so fast I almost dropped the base layer the first time. It's so simple to use, I'm never taking it out of my camera bag. If you bring your camera into any serious environments, this is just as crucial as a camera strap or a lens cap.

I have a mirrorless camera with a large zoom lens (which is advertised as working with the base layer) and it falls out of the side of the base layer relatively easily. I would not use or recommend this product to anyone.

For the price it’s not worth it. I thought the side would be more secure but it’s too open when you roll the top. Not worth the price. Better off buying a 5L Peak bag.

It sheds. Tiny feathers are constantly poking through, I get down all over my camera and gear and gear bag. Plus I think it's too expensive. I spent more on a coat for my camera than a coat for myself. All that being said, it does protect my camera, it's come in handy a few times but no way I would buy it again. Not for the price anyways.

I am a Ranger for The Dyrt and sometimes receive gear to review and this is one time I know I will use it! As a nature and wildlife photographer, I’m outside shooting pictures in every type of weather, both on land and sea. I needed something to protect my camera from the elements, but also need it to be lightweight and easy to put on/remove. I ordered the camera base layer and an additional lens base layer and have been using these products for the past few months while working at a campground and serving as a Naturalist Educator on a charter boat along the coast of Maine.What I like about these products:Very lightweight and well made.Simple design, relatively easy to use in the field.Provides some padding to prevent damage while in my backpack.Water resistant with integrated rain cover.Keeps lenses warmer so that they don’t get too cold and fog up.What could be improved:I wish the pocket were just a bit deeper to accommodate this longer lens a bit better.The padding could be a bit thicker on the camera base layer and still be lightweight.The rain cover for the camera base layer should be fully integrated, rather than as a separate feature. I prefer how the lens base layer has the rain cover full integrated inside; I plan to stitch the rain cover into the camera base layer.I want a bit more water protection.

The Matador Camera Base Layer is a unique camera sleeve that will protect your camera from bumps and water. While we did enjoy using it on a few trips, we found ourselves ditching this thing and using an actual camera cube more often than not. As a Ranger for the Dyrt, I get to review products from time to time, and I had the good fortune of receiving the Matador camera base layer. It is essentially a puffy jacket for your camera! It quickly and easily folds up onto most cameras, from small point-and-clicks to larger DSLRs. Having this sleek protection for my camera has actually made me MORE likely to take my camera out than before. Unravelling it only takes a second, which allows you to keep it close and snap photos on the go in only a matter of seconds. Have I mentioned that it looks GREAT? I love it for hiking and urban exploration. Just to be clear, it does not provide the same level of protection as a "traditional" camera bag, but it is much more convenient for quick and easy carrying. My only complaint is that it doesn't provide a mechanism to attach it to a camera strap.

I love this thing. I solves my problem of how to get my camera safely to more adventures while camping, climbing, hiking, etc. without bringing a larger ill-fitting camera bag. It is super light weight but durable. Gotta get on the ultralight train to really appreciate how awesome this product is. It only fits cameras with 7-in lenses or less so if you have a larger set up this may be a little small. But otherwise I highly recommend this.

Ottimo prodotto, bello esteticamente e funzionalità top. Copertura impermeabile per ogni evenienza facile da utilizzare. Protegge la macchina da graffi e urti leggeri, perfetto per metterlo nello zaino date le dimensioni ridotte.Certo, costa molto, ma lo riprenderei senza pensarci.

Troppo costosa per quello che è.È comoda per proteggere la camera da colpetti accidentali leggeri e da graffi.Sistema di chiusura scomodo e macchinoso.Ora che si apre il para pioggia la macchina è già lavata.

Aggeggio carino per proteggere la camera anche se la si vuole tenere a tracolla!I materiali sono molto tecnici (tipico della Matador)!Non ho dato il voto pieno semplicemente perchè si è veloce da togliere, ma non è altrettanto rapido da installare.

Arrivato entro il termine previsto, ne ho sentito parlare benissimo soprattutto dagli amanti della montagna per il trasporto delle proprie macchine fotografiche. Sarà un regalo, spero apprezzato :)

Utile lorsque l'on ne veut pas transporter un "gros" sac appareil photo mais quand même protéger son appareil. Par contre je trouve le prix trop élevé pour ce que c'est et je trouve que ce n'est pas si rapide d'enlever/remettre la housse...
