Provides Two Important Thai ingredients/flavors that might not be in many local stores
I know very little about Thai cooking, but I like Thai food a lot. The oil has a flavor of holy Thai basil (also called bai kaprao and Ocimum Sanctum) and lemongrass. These which can be difficult to find in some stores -- or is a specialty thing.I used it to make yellow gaeng with tofu and pineapples, and it only took canned coconut milk, powdered curry, soy sauce, some bell peppers, and Chinese 5-spice blend -- stuff I can get at any store in bulk. It was closer to the restaurant near us than I ever expected.

Nice flavor profile
This adds a really great flavor profile to asian-inspired dishes. It could be boosted a little but isn't overwhelming. I don't use as a "drizzle" but use with the heat to release all the flavors.

Fabulous Oil for Cooking Thai Food
I agree with the other reviewers that the La Tourangelle Thai Wok Oil has a subtle flavor (more Thai basil than lemongrass). I find that it complements my coconut curry stir fry nicely and lends some additional depth to my Thai recipes. I notice this difference in flavor primarily in the meat that I cook with it. It seems to have a reasonably high smoke point, which is an essential feature for high heat cooking. Unfortunately, I cannot find this in my local grocery store, and Amazon rarely sends me an undented can. Despite this, I use this product regularly and list it as an essential ingredient when my friends ask for my coconut curry and thai basil recipes!

LOVE this oil!
I have been craving Asian food lately and this oil has the BEST flavor and makes cooking yummy meals so easy! For example, I simply added this oil to some cooked riced cauliflower. It was meant to accompany a stir fry that I made but I ended up eating about 4 servings of this 'rice' all at once:-). Yes, it's that good!!

I love these oils
I love these oils. Great manufacturer, and I cook with walnut, almond, and sesame regularly. Please note that this oil will add a moderate lemongrass flavor for adult taste buds, but a strong one for sensitive eaters (kids). Kids describe it as "sweet." My kids don't really like the taste of it for stir fried veggies, but I do. Think of this like a regular cooking oil with a slight infusion of smell/flavor and you'll be all right.

Great oil for my wok!
So happy I got this! I like the flavors of lemongrass and Thai basil that are infused in the oil. Great for a variety of Asian dishes that you cook in a Wok. I’ve also used it in sauces like for steamed fish. Would buy again.

Lots more anise flavor and smell than I expected
Bought this for my thai-style meals expecting a strong lemongrass taste. Ended up getting more of an anise-y smell (perhaps from the basil) - cannot really smell or taste any lemongrass. I normally use canola or rice bran oil for my thai-style cooking and I cannot tell the difference between using el cheap-o canola oil and this stuff, so at least the anise did not overpower the dishes. I like the brand in general as their oils are made very carefully in California and are supposedly high quality. I cannot really taste a difference but I am not sorry I bought this if that makes any sense. I use their canola oil for baking. Three stars isn't a negative - it's ok - but I expected more lemongrass taste or smell and got neither.

Love La Tourangelle oils!
I love lemongrass SO much.I mostly use Thai Wok oil to finish dishes just before serving, because the flavor is the most strong without heat. When I do use it with heat I prefer hot and fast, like a stir fry. Quickly sautéing broccoli in Wok oil is always a hit, but my personal favorite is drizzling a teaspoon over tomato soup (the aroma cannot be beat).
