Having been a JVC shooter since the mini DV tape days, (JVC GY 500) I can only say, this JVC GY HM 170 is a 5 star 4K camera. 1st, JVC kept it's most important manual features on this camera. 2nd, Any serious shooter knows that dual XLR audio is a must for interviews, and JVC provides us with a great removable shotgun mike and a handle which has all the audio controls. 3rd, I love the screen button set up. You never have to touch the screen itself. No more jelly donut smears. on the screen. 4th, how about that zoom control on the handle. It's programmable. 5th, I personally love the eye piece. Hell, I can lay on my belly and get great shots. 6th, Two large assignable rings on the camera. 7th, This camera has LANC remote control. I bought a controller and a 15 ft. extension cable and it all works for me. I got my camera from CAMETA Cameras. They shipped well with no breakage. I called and added the 3 year warranty before my 30 days was up and there was no problem. They also gave a super bundle with this camera. This was the best deal I have ever seen on a professional 4K camera.. If you buy this JVC GY HM170, make sure you register it with JVC to keep up with upgrades. Thanks for reading.

This camcorder does pretty good. Lots of manual settings for sure. Though I am still getting used to running it, Seems to take better video in manual mode. In auto mode it seems to struggle with focus especially indoors in lower light. Sluggish in focus while your zooming in on something. Anyways, I have not had it very long so I am still figuring it out. Want to make sure if its just me or this camcorder. I used it for my daughters wedding and lots of footage was blurry in closeup shots in auto mode. Wedding was indoors in a church. So we will see as time goes by. I kinda thought it would do better for the price.

Good camera for someone starting out in filming. Challenging in low lighting, but overall it's an ok camera. A more experienced camera person should get something with more manual options. Quality of images are great. Pay attention to audio, the internal mic can sometimes have sounds that come from touching the camera.

I had been looking for a professional video camera for quite some time when I stumbled upon this. This JVC has awesome video quality and all the features that you need. It performs well in lower light conditions and records sound well. I have used it several times now for Nature shots, family stuff, and YouTube and it has performed well. I would recommend this to anyone starting out to intermediate. You won't be sorry.

I own several smaller JVC Everio video cameras that out perform this product, JVC GY-HM170U Ultra 4K HD 4KCAM Professional Camcorder & Top Handle Audio Unit with XLR Microphone + . Each was a third of the cost and have superior volume capture. I purchased for the added ability to use wireless microphones. Not only is the wireless mike audio capture inferior to the smaller cameras, but the internal mikes suck. Would not purchase this product again.

I like this bundle a lot, the camera is pretty awesome and helped me learn how to shoot high-paced sports (which settings work and don't work). Lots of features, its lightweight, and has many options to add equipment to. I would recommend this to anyone who is trying to get into the video editing/producing business.

The camera doesn't work good in low light, we were at a outside wedding and the battery wouldn't work.
