The TBDOCKHDPBC Thunderbolt Docking Station gives you a single connection point to your home / office workstation, for a flexible setup with formidable speed. Adding Thunderbolt and HDMI video outputs, Gigabit Ethernet, a USB 3.0 hub and 3.5mm audio ports to your Thunderbolt-equipped laptop has never been easier. Single Connection Start working faster! The Thunderbolt dock reduces the hassle of connecting a typical laptop workstation by leaving your entire peripheral set connected to the dock. Through a single connection to your laptop (e.g. MacBook Pro, MacBook Air or Ultrabook), you can be up-and-running in seconds. Get connected right away with the included high-quality 1m Thunderbolt cable, saving you time and money. Flexible Setup Experience a tidy and customizable workspace with a small footprint and included optional stand, so you can place the Thunderbolt dock either horizontally or vertically. Connect more of your USB peripherals through the integrated 3-port USB 3.0 controller. External USB 3.0 hard drives benefit from the smooth response and faster data transfer rates provided by UASP. Older USB peripherals aren't a problem either, with USB 2.0/1.1 backward-compatibility. Formidable Speed Increase your overall system performance with a dedicated controller for onboard I/O handling, freeing up system resources. With data transfer rates up to 10 Gbps, Thunderbolt technology simultaneously supports a high-resolution display and high-performance data devices through a single interface, plus you can daisy-chain up to 6 devices (Thunderbolt 1 and 2 compatible) for maximum connectivity. Expand your screen real estate and increase productivity, using the integrated monitor outputs. With support for resolutions up to 1920x1080 (HDMI) and 2560x1440 (Thunderbolt / Mini DisplayPort), the dock provides several options to add external HD displays. Backed by a StarTech.com 3-year warranty and free lifetime technical support. Note: When using a single display, the dock lets you connect one HDMI, DisplayPort or Thunderbolt monitor. The Thunderbolt interface on the dock is backward compatible with Mini DisplayPort and when connected to a DisplayPort monitor, only a single display can be added as HDMI will be disabled. For dual display configurations, you can connect one HDMI monitor and one Thunderbolt monitor simultaneously. View more Thunderbolt products

Works well, good quality.
I use this dock with a Mac rMBP, OS 10.9.4, LaCie Big 5, and a LG display port monitor. Performance is impressive, matches or exceeds the rMBP USB3 port. The dock gets warm near the top, but not hot. I have it mounted on the end similar to the photo, and the base provided is nicely weighted. When this dock is first in the TB chain, followed by the LaCie disk enclosure, followed by the display port monitor everything seems to work fine. Mix things up and there are sleep issues. Documentation and on line info clearly identify monitor support, where before it may have not been obvious to the casual user. It will support two monitors but only if one is a thunderbolt monitor and the other HDMI.I need more than 3 USB ports, so I plugged my old pluggable brand 7 port USB 3 hub into one of the Startech ports and everything seems to work fine. I have a USB3 disk enclosure on both the Startech and one of the Hub and disk benchmarks are near the same as before (USB Hub connected to rMBP USB port). I have a portable USB3 SSD connected to the third Startech port and the dock powers it nicely. My other drives are self powered.Typically a USB3 chipset will have 4 ports and so does the one Startech uses, but one of the ports is used for audio. To the rMBP it looks like a USB audio device. I'd rather have another USB port, but then is is nice to be able to control volume from the keyboard. It has a quality look an fell, and comes with a TB cable as well as three different AC power cables. The TB cable is a little short but the power cables are much longer than the usual. Makes no sound. When waking or powering up, there is a little pop from the audio amp I have plugged in. A pop is to be expected expected, but its much smaller than others.. not obtrusive. The power supply brick is almost as large as the dock and stays relatively cool.Hopefully this will be a durable product, so far so good.

Finally... a Thunderbolt port with driverless USB 3.0, HDMI and a Thunderbolt pass-through!
I've got a 2011 MacBook Pro and for years I've wanted to add reliable USB 3.0 to it so I could use the wealth of current generation storage devices. Each device I tried (using the ExpressCard slot) was unreliable and you had to do backflips to find a driver on Chinese web sites and hope that they would work... only to find them either corrupt your data or stop working entirely when a new OSX update rolled out. This device uses the same chipset that is inside the current generation Macs, so if you use the latest OSX, it does not require any drivers. Two more advantages:1. Thunderbolt pass-through... For me this is HUGE deal, because my MacBook only has one Thunderbolt port, and no HDMI port, so my monitor is in the Thunderbolt port and it needs to be at the end of the chain... plus I have some Thunderbolt drives that do not have pass-through... essentially preventing me from using the drives and my monitor at the same time.2. HDMI... Some Thunderbolt docks don't have HDMI ports, so even though they have pass-through, you still lose the port if you are using it for a monitor.3. This device has 3 USB 3.0 ports. Some docks only have one.4. Gigabit Ethernet port. For laptop users, this is a big deal. It lets you plug your LAN directly to the dock so you don't have to keep it tethered to the MacBook. This not only saves wear and tear on the plug, but it essentially lets you have just one cable coming from the dock to the MacBook. As a bonus, you can address the Ethernet port as a second port if you want to connect to more than one network.5. The Thunderbolt cable is INCLUDED. This may not sound like a big deal, but Thunderbolt cables are expensive. I was happily surprised to see that they included one in the box.

Dual Monitor Support is Misleading
The product page on the StarTech.com webpage is misleading about dual monitor support. It says "For dual display configurations, you can connect one HDMI monitor and one Thunderbolt monitor simultaneously." Which means that it only supports dual monitors when one monitor is HDMI and the other is a thunderbolt display (no adapters to DVI or VGA work). That basically limits you to the Apple thunderbolt display and nothing else.To summarize: secondary monitors do not work with a mini displayport to VGA or DVI adapter.

0 hub and it works wonderfully. Please note though that I originally hooked up ...
Hooked this up to the back of my Apple Thunderbolt Cinema Display to convert the Thunderbolt port into a USB 3.0 hub and it works wonderfully. Please note though that I originally hooked up an inexpensive Mediasonic USB 3.0 enclosure: http://www.amazon.com/Mediasonic-H21-SU3-ProBox-Drive-Enclosure/dp/B007X4TGXI/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1417799446&sr=8-3&keywords=mediasonic+usb+3.0+enclosure and the drive constantly and consistently unmounted on me. I was about to blame the StarTech but swapped the drive out for another enclosure and it has been rock solid for a month now. I remember now reading a while ago that Macs had an issue with a certain chipset that Mediasonic uses in their USB 3.0 enclosures a while back. I just assumed that with a brand new 22014 Macbook this wouldn't be an issue any more. I was wrong. Media sonic USB 3.0 and Apple Macs defiantly still do not play together nicely.

Ext monitor works fine when connected directly to MBP
I have MB Pro w/retina display using bootcamp windows 7 and one Acer monitor connected by HDMI. Ext monitor will not work when hooked into StarTech dock. Called ST and they said this is NORMAL to not work with bootcamp. Tried it with OS X and it still won't work! Ext monitor works fine when connected directly to MBP. Will be returning it shortly.

Great breakout box for your MacBook Air/Pro!
This box is a wonderful addition to your MacBook setup, even if you already have a Thunderbolt Display (I do). It provides multiple USB 3 connectors, great for attaching external drives, and allows for daisy-chaining to an external Thunderbolt-attached array. The external audio in and out are also very helpful. Net result: I only have to attach a single Thunderbolt cable and power cable to my MacBook Pro when I come in every morning, and all of my peripherals are set up.The device is well-built, and has been very stable: no crashes caused by it that I know of. The vertical positioning lets it take up much less desk space, and the base is large enough that it doesn't tend to fall over.

Great Thunderbolt Docking Station
StarTech devices work right out of the box. My only disappointment with this device is the lack of a third Thunderbolt port. Yes, I understand that Thunderbolt is a series connected configuration; however, some idiots only put one port on their devices that effectively dead-ends the device chain. The real advantage is the wired Ethernet connection that permits my MacBook Air to fly through downloads and backups. On sale, it is an excellent deal and well worth the money.
