3/4" Drive Ratchet Repair Kit J5649

Bought this kit for a 3/4 drive "Proto Los Angeles" 5649 ratchet. After 60 years it is not surprising that the thing would need a rebuild.This kit fits perfectly, but there are a few things to consider:1) The replacement plate cover is blank. Not stamped "Proto". Its very likely that this part is still good on your ratchet, so i reused my old plate.2) The select lever kit comes in 3 pieces. On my ratchet, the select lever needed to be drilled off and hammered on. Attaching it requires more effort than just screwing things together. The never lever needs to be hammered to deform metal and keep it in place. A punch kit and a hammer at the minimum, some metal blocks or impact sockets are highly recommended. If you are rebuilding this beast of a ratchet, chances are you can handle this job...

This is the kit you need for the 3/4" drive, model 5649 Proto ratchet. These are authentic Proto USA-made replacement/renewal parts and are straight from Proto, not a third party or a knockoff. The steel is high quality and the parts are superbly made. The components in this 3/4" drive set are hulking compared even to the 1/2" model and you can tell how strong this ratchet is when you feel the immense heft of the main gear and pawl assemblies.If you have this particular 3/4" drive ratchet, which I highly recommend, do yourself a favor and pick up a set of spare parts while they're still plentiful and well priced. Proto makes one of the best industrial strength ratchets out there, this particular model is virtually bulletproof and you cannot go wrong with this kit. If and when your ratchet ever breaks, these will probably no longer be available.Also worth noting, the stock photo is not accurate. This is for a standard male drive ratchet, not the female (square hole) that is shown in the picture. Again, this is for a regular, plain Jane 3/4" drive, which is what the 5649 ratchet is. Don't be fooled by the picture, this IS the right kit.

Fit well and made a broken ratchet useable again. Was done in 15 minutes.

This kit will work for an Armstrong 13-906 ratchet as well as the proto one. Saved me buying a new ratchet as the Armstrong is discontinued.

Item was the correct part, although having to peen the ratchet lever to the pawl is a bit of a pain. Used to it being held on by a screw. Arrived early.
