Beware! No part of this disposal air switch kit is brass, though the description states: "GOOD DESIGN - The Cover of Air Activated Switch Button for Food Waste Disposer is Brass Constructed, with Matte Black Finished." The button, escutcheon and housing are all light-weight plastic, PAINTED black! Because the description clearly indicated brass construction and reviews averaged 4.8 stars, with no mention of plastic, I ordered this, expecting to receive a "matte black" metal, high-quality product, and the $45 price seemed fair for the representation. But, after opening the nice package, and finding PAINTED, very light-weight black plastic, I feel I grossly overpaid for a product that will likely not last. To be fair to the seller, I don't know if the other available finishes are metal or painted plastic like plastic item I received. In the attached photos, you'll see BESTILL's "matte black, " which has a sheen, next to a true "matte black," metal soap dispenser from Amazon. And, though I fully unwrapped the components and examined them, I didn't install this piece as it didn't meet my expectations of a solidly constructed "brass" piece that would endure daily use and last for years, as my last brass constructed air switch had lasted for a decade when I sold the house. My biggest concern with light-weight, plastic kitchen components used daily is high susceptibility to breaking, especially as air switches require a firm push to operate. Another customer purchased this BESTILL air switch kit in oil-rubbed bronze, and reported breaking after only a couple months' use. They stated in a review, "The button action was spongy and required firm pressure. Eventually, repeated pressing cracked the sleeve, sending the entire unit to tumble down into the cabinet." Their review of this BESTILL product was embedded in their 5-star review of the SINKDOM "full brass" replacement air switch, where they noted, "This button has none of those issues. After deciding I wouldn't keep the air switch, I shopped online and in stores (Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, eFaucets.com) for a replacement air switch. Amazon had the most air switch kits, at the lowest prices and they were in-stock! Elsewhere, I found most air switch kits were priced well over $100, some close to $300! As a replacement, I bought the same "SINKDOM Air Switch Kit (Full Brass) for Garbage Disposal" the other customer purchased, in "matte black" from Amazon. My handyman comes tomorrow (Monday) to drill the countertop, and I'm thrilled that I could order on Sunday and pick it up from Amazon's locker Monday! I was also thrilled to find out that as a Prime customer I can simply drop off my return at a UPS store and they'll pack it and ship my return at no charge! I'll review the SINKDOM air switch once installed for a few months.

My silverware I have left will now survive. This eliminates any accidental switching the wrong switch thinking it’s the light. I love mine. Only thing is keeping it clean since it’s on the countertop. I have longer nails, and I can still push this button with ease. The button is not hard to push like a toilet button. You do not have to hold it for it to work. Push on, push off. I love my new toy!
